1 Item listed each and every day is a duplicate?
Sep 21, 2010 01:17 PM
While I have many items to sell I list the same item in a small to single quantity once each and every day in one to two catagory's.

I use the title to tell me where they are selling best. While I may list the same item in a different category, there is a different title to let me know where the buyer purchased it from. Is any of this considered listing a duplicate?

Your description of what is considered a duplicate is vague to me, Are you telling us we can only list our items on a daily basis if they are listed for a single day (for the Buy-it-Now people) and that the new listing has to be made after the last one ended in order to list every day for the buyer's that only shop the "New listed today" or "Ending today" listings?

I really honestly do not like to get complaints as I am sure you folks don't but I sure do wish who ever complained, would actually buy something instead of spending their time complaining enough to get the policy's changed where all of the Top Seller's and Power sellers have to once again change they way they do business......

I would even venture to bet this will end up leading to lost revenue for eBay on the number of listing fee's so you will have an excuse to raise the final value fee's on sold items yet again.......

I also hope someone can explain this better, cause making an announcement so early and not having the proper tool ready such as the link to see what our duplicate's are, just add's fuel to the fire for those whom are confused or scared their eBay business is about to take a dump into the red.

I agree with you about the duplicates tool. Unreal that they would just throw it out there and then say that it'll be ready in a couple of weeks...

Actually, this rule will only be useful at all if it applies to also to the Chinese listings-----if they are "exempted" through some loophole we will all be screwed.

Hi. Thanks for the questions and feedback. The intention of the policy is that a seller would only have one FP listing on the site at a time that would have duplicate inventory within it (as opposed to multiple listings in different categories or on the same day). Sellers can still choose to give a single listing exposure in two categories when posting a listing, as long as they're not creating two separate listings.

We believe that consolidating the listings overall will be better for buyers, sellers overall (and the business).

I hear your feedback on the tool, and we'll work to get that out as quickly as we can.

Thank you.

You didn't the question about sellers from China. In my mind, its these sellers that are the worst at doing this. Will Ebay stop them listing duplicate also?

I would think the rule would apply to everyone regardless of their ethnicity. So, yes, this does need to be addressed.
