Well I guess we have to just read each other's answers to one another? So if I am selling 15 different scents of bubble bath and I list those separate is this still okay?

Hi Pineapple32,

As long as you do not have duplicate listings for the same item and differences between items are clearly reflected in your listings’ photos, titles, and descriptions, etc., then your listings will not be ended by eBay. Items that would not be considered significantly different include situations where a) the item is identical, b) the item is identical but the listing is changed to appear different, or c) the items are nearly identical and do not serve sufficiently different buyer needs.

What is sufficiently different buyer needs????
WHO determines the buyer needs?

yeah... this is going to be an interesting one. looks/sounds like another headache. should be interesting to find out how they plan on comparing listings and whether or not someone will actually look at the auctions or if it will be based on the title and photo. i sell a lot of collectibles and list the 'same' items but with varying conditions. oh, the headache. i just see it coming.

I don't know? I can't get a clear answer... I envision after several years of selling I may need to go back to my 9 to 5 job? It sort of sounds like Ebay wants sellers to leave-I can't sort this out

You look like you will be fine. They are trying to stop the sellers that have say 400 of an item, and list it 8 times for quantities of 50. They are trying to level out the field. It is a smart move, allowing the smaller sellers to get even exposure. I just hope they take the time to actually investigate the listings and don't automatically pull based on assumption.

i missed a small portion of the announcement, which states it will not affect auction style listings, which is good for me to some aspect.

I'm a little confused on the part about "serving buyers needs" who determines that? I thought we should since we are selling the item, I know when someone is looking for what I sell they type in a particular scent name they do not just type in bubble bath...

Okay well I can understand that if that is what is defined as duplicate listings. I hardly ever have auction style listings because my items are health and beauty.

Just glancing at your listings for lotions I only saw one duplicate. It looks like even though your listings are similar they have different scents, sizes etc which wouldn't be considered duplicates as I understand it

The way I understand chipwell clear as mud answer is that if you have 15 different scents of bubble bath you will have to sell all of them in on auction, now the customer will have to tell you what scent they want. They taken the fun of buying right out of the buyers hands to pick what they want. This is what happens when you get people running things they have no clue how to run an operation like E-bay.
