How will this affect coupon sellers?

How will this affect coupon sellers?

What a predicament we have ourselves here. Coupon sellers have been forced to post hundreds and hundreds of duplicate auctions for quite some time now.

So what happens now? We're going to be forced to make duplicate auctions, then forced to make a single multi-quantity auction, then forced to make duplicate auctions, then forced to make a single multi-quantity auction, and repeat?

I used to post all of my quantity in one single nice clean listing, then had my account suspended because that wasn't ok with you guys, but now the way you forced me to do things is not ok with you guys? Jesus. You're management is in desperate need of people who have a clue.

So anyways, what do I do as a coupon seller? Do I make one listing with multiple quantity, or do I make duplicate listings?

It can't be both ways.

Hi careys3,

Please note, the duplicate listing policy applies only to Fixed Price listings. Sounds like you are asking about Auction-style listings here.

All of my listings are buy it now.

Nobody probably has an answer for this, huh? I don't think anybody does because I doubt when they made this policy, how it affects coupon sellers was part of the discussion.

As it stands right now, coupon sellers have to make duplicate listings. Yet, the new rule states that we can't make duplicate listings so something has to give here.

Hi Christine and careys3

Let's clarify... If I have 80 identical coupons for Tide detergent, I am limited to 20 Tide coupons per listing number, and must use 3 duplicate listings to post all 80, a total of 4 listings. This is per policy.

I would be delighted to use the multiple-quantity feature to list all 80 in one listing number! This would also be terrific to make competition better. As it stands now, one seller with thousands of coupons fills up a page of search results, making the other zillion sellers not get seen.

We would all like to save listing fees and get better exposure with the new duplicate listing policy.

But--the policy for coupon selling must be changed!

And, yes, selling in coupons is primarily fixed price.

Christine...

Here is the policy the OP is asking about:

Bulk coupon sales: In a single listing, sellers cannot list more than 100 total coupons, 20 identical coupons, or 5 coupon inserts (like those that come with a newspaper). Make sure you clearly state in your description how many coupons you're selling. If we can't tell how many coupons are offered, the listing violates our policy.

Coupons for "free" products: You can only list 2 coupons for free products, with no purchase required, per listing.

Coupons printed off the Internet: You can't list more than 2 printed Internet coupons per listing.

Ebay's current policies force them to have separate listings for same items and now also tells them they can't. Which is it?

I welcome this policy with open arms if it gets the coupon policy changed.

When I first started selling coupons, if I had 200 Tide coupons, I would make 1 listing with 20 coupons and a listing quantity of 10. Perfect, everything in one listing. Was extremely easy and efficient to keep track of everything being listed and sold.

I did it that way for a long time, through I think it was 47 policy violations before finally getting suspended and having to change my ways.

Now, using the same example, I have to create a listing with 20 Tide coupons and a listing quantity of 1 and then duplicate it 10 times. Multiply that all out by the number of different coupons I have and you get hundreds and hundreds of listings. Right now I have 300 something listings when it could be about 30 instead. Some sellers have thousands of listings when they could have only 50.

So this policy would be awesome, and is the way I wanted to do things from the beginning, but right now both policies are blocking each other.

It would be wonderful to get our old style of listing back. Multiple items in one listing should be allowed. Since the primary reason seems to be "counterfeiting".
Obviously it doesn't seem too reasonable to allow 1 or 2 individuals to always have the best match and the first 4 pages because they list 200 alike listings. (as this was instantly embraced by some individuals when ebay took away the 15 listiing maximum....
I do want to point out that all of these changes may be by design and that ebay may actually be trying to get rid of coupon sales?
So, the fifteen max left after the multiple item listings and now we can only list 1 item per identical listing? Hmmm....ebay can barely keep up with the individuals that still list the multiple item way. Every time I try to ask why they can't stop it they say they don't have enough safety and security peopple to police all of the categories? Were more people hired? Who is actually doing the removal?

I need to clarify the counterfeiting argument. I never understood how allowing 100 listings is any different than allowing 1 listing with multiple items? 1000 coupons is 1000 coupons, no matter how they are listed.
I also think that ebay is trying to apply policy to all without looking back at their original "new" policies.
I think that before they implement them, they ought to look at how blanketing everyone with the same policy could conflict with their current ones.
