You are not allowed to have any negative wording in your listings about shipping or Ebay TOS anymore either.
And to be honest, buyers just want to buy stuff and will move on to the next seller who is more positive. Unfortunately it sucks to be a seller here but if you are going to stay, my idea would be to try to get all the buyers you can, not put them off with negativity.

The Ranch, Betsy, Artflame....all looking good. If sellers could decide on one venue and go there, the buyers will follow. Sellers are buyers too...............

and they say they do this to encourage lower shipping price, which is exactly the opposite. people raise their shipping price to accommodate for the fee. This makes ebay less competitive compared to other places on ebay. I don't know what they are thinking.

I sorta understand the problem with the sellers who have "Buy it now" for 0.10 and then charge $30 shipping for a $25 item to avoid FVF. I'm not sure what the solution to that is (it's been going on a LONG time) but I would imagine there is software that would flag auctions that have super low prices with way above normal shipping costs and if this is what the seller is doing, remove those sellers from the system after a warning.

I'm like some others posting here who charge ONLY what the shipping costs me and if the estimated shipping is more that a few cents over what my actual cost is, I refund it when I return from the post office. I recently had to add a handling fee in because most items I sell are expencive (american indian artwork) and fragil and I can't ship in good faith with no insurance. Ebay won't let me charge for insurance or make it optional which I find silly. I lose money on the shipping supplies I have to buy like tape and bubble wrap etc making sure the items arrive safely. Plus what it costs in my time to package and deliver this stuff to the post office, sometimes I spend 30 minutes in line just to send the stuff off. i was OK with all this

Now I lose more money on shipping, so ebay can make a profit off the shipping they want me to NOT make a profit on? All this seems very counter productive to me.

I just got ripped of. I sold my first item for 9.99 and 9 shipping.
Shipping came out to be 9.37, which i expected as it was a heavy small box of knifes, but the surprise came from the shipping fees which basically was j/as identical to a FVF. WTF???

This is really a rip off by eBay. Shipping is a pass through, not something they should take a commission on.

It is obvious that Ebay is trying to force seller's to offer free shipping. This is an attempt by Ebay to compete with Amazon, Overstock, Walmart, etc. who offer free shipping or minimal shipping. It seems that Ebay is leaning towards a full retail type marketplace and is steering away from the auction part of the business.

For people who sell items that weigh over a couple pounds, free shipping isn't an option. In order to offset the new fees, we need to increase our handling charges or increase the cost of the item being sold. Higher item prices result in lost sales; increased handling charges has a negative affect on our Seller's Dashboard.

Inundate Ebay with your concerns about this terrible business decision; send emails, letters, phone calls; postings on discussion boards, etc.; we need to speak up and let our voices be heard.

I too was extremely disappointed with Ebay's decision to implement the new fee on shipping costs. As someone else pointed out earlier, if they really wanted to stop the "99cent item, $50 shipping" sellers they could certainly have done so in other ways. It all boils down to greed/desperation. What upsets me most is the way they candy-coated the decision, presenting it as a way to save buyers money and enhance their buying experience. Do they really think we are that STUPID???

However, my spirits lifted yesterday when I received an email from R*by Pl*za, R*uby L*ne's sister store. Effective June 1st, it will be completely free to list there through 2012. No listing fees, no FVF, completely Free! They are doing this to try to build up the site, I have been on there since they opened April 2010 and I like it alot. I plan to list most of my things there, then when I want to sell auction style I will do so here on Ebay, but I also recently opened an account on "The Bid" site and will give that a try too.

I had considered trying an Ebay store too, until they pulled this shipping fee stunt I think I will wait to hear seller's feedback re: how this new fee has effected them before giving that any more thought. Ebay store: a monthly fee, an insertion fee, a FVF, shipping fee, Paypal fees... ... is there anything left after all the fees have been deducted???

I'm with Lukeone37, I'm on my way out too. I am a very small seller on Ebay, mostly a buyer, and when I get gouged for the shipping fees for a flat rate padded priority mail envelope that cost 4.95 to mail and that's exactly what I pay at the post office, I can't afford to lose anymore money than I do at Paypal already. The post office doesn't say, "aww, we'll give you a discount since Ebay robbed you." What the heck Ebay, can't you just leave well enough alone and put Ebay back to the way it was? Fun and inexpensive. Why do you have to ruin a good thing? You're in the business of providing an auction site, not a variety store for yourself to make money.

Just got the 'Final Value Fee on Shipping' deal. What the frig?

Is that also on actual shipping costs?

There should be new site going against ebay offering a completely free market place

I also just got a final shipping fee charged to my account for $0.72 for two items I sold three weeks ago.

Can they legally charge me for a transaction that has already been completed. I mean I've been selling for over 11 years. Can they go back and apply a shipping fee to everything I've ever sold?

feeBay SUCKS!

They got a little over $10.00 with all fees combined. I paid about $8.75 in shipping.

The point is that they take way too much compared to years ago.

You can't honestly be siding with them I hope...
