Re: Old silverplate spoon -- help with marks

That would make a cool addition to Springfieldarsenal's arsenal collection! And it doesn't weigh a ton! When I'm out hunting my treasures and my hands are getting full, I still think "could be worse, hauling around cannons at the antique stores!"

Yes thanks for alerting me on the closed stores thread. I think it is kinda cool, if you list it let me know-the cannon engraving is sort of primitive, like a grade-schooler's sketch, but that makes it interesting. Who knows how all that came about. I haven't gotten into collecting cannon spoons............yet............but if you list it let me know. Also, you never know, maybe someone is only missing one spoon from their cannon silverplate service.

*************** What follows is sig line*************
I collect fine cannon models (patent, arsenal, salesman, maker's, presentation), mug-type brass/copper gunpowder measures, artillery sights/quadrants/shot gauges, cannon firing flintlocks, percussion locks, early artillery books, manuscripts, artillery projectiles, original cannon barrels, etc.

Thanks, Springfield. I'll let you know when I list. I also thought the etching looked kind of primitive. What do you think of the cart that the cannon is sitting on top of? Doesn't look like the usual type with the large wheels. I thought that particular style might be a clue as to the age of the spoon.

Any thoughts? Again, I appreciate everyone's efforts!!
