One thing I did want to mention is that a Graphic Novel is not necessarily a comic. Graphic Novels are just that....novels...and have a long and often complicated plot/story line and are usually many pages.
Also the artwork varies considerably from the stereotypical dramatic perspective drawings of the usual comic book art. Many graphic novels do utilise the same form of illustration but many have ventured forth and are creating artwork that is truly new and unique. Personally I'm going with traditional animal illustration-it's what I like, my clients like and the target group enjoys so no photoshop etc. strictly handdrawn.
If anyone is interested in perhaps venturing into this area, I suggest you go to your local comic store one day and check out the wide variety of graphic novels that are now available. You will be surprised!
Have a great day! Tracy

Publishing a book costs a lot of money, and no publisher in the right mind will publish a book that they believe will not sellThat is not meaning to say that a or any book does not have merit, most just do not have a big enough market out there to break even much less make a buck or two.
Books are a great way to make an income if the book holds longevity, a dollar here and a dollar there over the years add up, that is what owning the copyright is all about,
And yes animal things do sell well especially if down in good taste.
