Note: If this thread gets off the ground, there are likely to be SPOILERS in here so don't read if you don't want to know what happened in the book! Well, I stayed up until 1:30 a.m. last night to finish Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - it was so good! Anyone else finished with it yet...??? what did you think?! I'm glad it didn't have quite the unfinished ending as Book IV, now waiting for the next book won't be quite so annoying... but I know it will be a l-o-n-g wait! Anyway... what are your thoughts on it???

Sounds reasonable to me, D!!! :)

Weekend was fun...on the river of course! and I didn't burn, whoohoo!!!! :) LOL

We had a little mishap on Saturday. Sigh. It was getting ready to storm, so we beat feet back to the boat dock, got the pontoon and skis back on the trailers and took for friends house. As hubby and I got close it started to rain, then it started to pour. So we stayed in the borrowed suburban with the jet skis hooked up to it while it rained very hard thinking it'll slow down and we can make a dash to the house. Next thing I know I'm thinking we're sliding down the hill and hubby's yelling tornado, tornado. Thankfully we were both wrong. A tree fell on the jet skis. Sigh. They are totally screwed, well not totally, but as they are 95's i'm sure they will be totaled. It was a good time. I bout pee'd my pants, and I never wanna do that AGAIN!!!!

Other then that incident, the weekend was great! :)

"Oh, by the way, we nearly got killed by a falling tree"

Gee, Fredi.  Not only could you have been squished, the borrowed Suburban would not be going home in good shape.  Consider it's God telling you to stick with the four-wheelers.  You said JetSki ing wasn't as much fun.  Get a bicycle.

DANG!  I would a had a cow right there in the front seat!!!!!

I do not like wind or falling trees.

OK, fun weekend here too (without almost dying, LOL!).  Went up to the inlaws wonderful new house way high in the mountains overlooking an incredible lake.  Had a BBQ and explored their property a bit.

BIL said that there were a lot of (mostly garden) snakes around but to watch out.  The 6 year old grandson heard that and grabbed me and said "Grandma, I wanna find a snake!!!!"  So off we went on a snake hunt. I'd been telling him for years stories of snakes I'd caught.

I had him follow behind me as quietly as an excited 6 year old can go and whispered what to watch for (movement in the grass).

We walked around for a few minutes and then I spotted some promising boards laying in the grass. I told Adam that snakes like to hide under stuff like that.  I'd been telling him that if we SAW a snake to freeze and not move until I was sure it was a "safe" snake (I've caught hundreds of snakes in my life, honestly--I probably would be in Slytherin just for my love of them!).

He stood back and I carefully picked up the piece of plywood and sure enough, there was a lazy garden snake under there who had just shed his skin.  I picked him up -- and he didn't try to bite (some garden snakes will bite, but they aren't fangged, just have sharp edges and pinch).  Any way we played with Mr. Snake all day, he never got upset and kept tickling Adam with his tongue.  We had a great lesson in snake lore and then when it was time to go home we put him back under the board (big brother got the snake skin).

I LOVE being a grandma!!!!!  How else can an almost 60 year old woman go out and do something like that????  Heeee!  I had my camera with me even and never remembered it until we were on the way home.  I'm guessing Mr. Snake will be back under his board next time we visit (in a couple of weeks).

;)

OK now it's time to go back to werk.  yeah!  I'm giving my paper piecing lesson tonight after work.  That will be fun!  I've got 4 towers down now (up to year 3 and the front door with Harry).  I'll get pictures of them before I put it all together.  They look so freakin' cool (if I do say so myself!).

Later!

lol it was very close :) But we're alive to tell the tale. I'm thinking we just need to forget about the jet skis, take whatever money the adjuster offers and not worry about it. Hubby on the other hand loves the silly things :). I'm just indifferent about them, lol. they are fun to watch hubby and his cousin go crazy on them, but other then that, meh, I can't take them or leave them, lol.

Adjuster should be out today to look at them and give me the good (or bad) news, depending on how you look at it. The damage isn't really that bad (couple of holes with a couple of trees through them, lol) and Hubby says he can repair or buy a new hull. So hopefully we get enough $ to do that :). Fingers crossed! :)

Oh Tonks, now that sounds like FUN!!! When we were putting the pontoon in the River on sunday there was a HUGE snake, eating a bull frog...the bull frog was the size of a small dog, I'm so not even kidding! I didn't get near enough to the snake to see what kind it was, tho. Of course couple of kids at the boat dock just HAD to freaking kill it. Sigh, I'm like why can't they just leave it alone? It wasn't hurting anyone (except the bull frog). I keep telling people they are more scared of you then you are of them. The other one, later in the day, in the water with us, I screamed like a girl and got out of the water. I like snakes, don't get me wrong, but I'd just as soon admire them from afar!!!

Oh man, I so woulda read those kids who killed the bullfrog eating snake the riot act!  Then I woulda caught the snake/bullfrog and taken it far away from those nasty kids.  What a shame!

Well we had a scare with 9 year old grandson today.  He had some kind of seizure in this sleep this morning.  Big one.  Paramedics checked him out, had him go up to the hospital and get more checked.  Dr. says it could be some sort of odd sleep disorder, but is probably a seizure.  Turns out lots of kids have one, and never have another their entire life.  I never knew that.  When I first heard about it I was terrified he would have epilepsy all his life...Doc says to watch him real careful the next few weeks for anything odd, but other wise he thinks he's fine!

Now me, I aged 10 years and my heart rate STILL hasn't gone down from the initial call around 8:30.

I should have...i mean jesus it wasn't hurting any person, the bull frog didn't look happy tho, lol. My stepdad said something to them, but these 'kids' are probly 19/20 so they are just idiots...you know what I mean? Sheesh...

Jeepers tonks, hope everything goes OK. Wowza...

So we drag the camper home last nite, at 35mph which is all the faster hubby will let me drive b/c of the new roof that's been put on. It's fricken filthy, but I should be able to get in there and clean tonite. I'm so glad his Dad said here you can do all the work, and use it whenever you want, lol. There was a lot of work there! LOL. He still has to put a ceiling in and finish the vents and skylights on the roof then all the 'work' will be done. Then it's my turn. I did sweep the big crap out last nite!!!

So that took all evening so we're eating late and I left the boys outside till we were done eating. brought them in, fed them, hubby takes a shower, comes back down stairs to finish watching one show with me. I'm sitting there and suddenly CJ's making all kinds of racket in his crate (i'd put them to bed b/c we were going to bed in 5 mins). I get up and go in the mud room and poor Kirby's having a seizure. This is (as far as I know) only the second one he's ever had. At least this time he didn't pee on me. Sigh, I just let him out of the crate and caught him and made him stay still until it was done. 10 mins after it's over, it's like nothing every happened, it was this way with the last one. Freaked me out for sure. Sigh...If he has another one, he'll go to the vet, but I'm gonna guess he won't have another, lol for about 6 years!

Re: FINISHED Reading Harry Potter?

must be something in the air Fredi (seizures).  Talked to the grandson a bit this morning.  He had been spider watching the day before out in the yard.  He and a couple of kids find spiders in the yard and figure out what kind they are and watch them *they are not allowed to hurt anything but black widows, LOL*  Anyway, they didn't find any black widows.  BUT as he was having the seizure (he thinks) he was having a really vivid dream about a gigantic black widow and he was fighting it with his ninja sword (he's read the Hobbit, LOL!).  So it COULD have just been something like that but his dad said they could not wake him up, and when he did come out of it he was spacy, so guessing it was a seizure.  His dad and hubby are both major sleepwalkers.  But when they sleepwalk they do what I tell them to (usually "go back to bed!"   LOL!

Anyway, that was enough of a scare for me for the rest of the summer.

We're going to try to go fishing next weekend.  There are some fun trout and catfish ponds about half an hour away.  I haven't gone fishing in 3 years or more, I miss it.  We've got a big camping/fishing  trip planned for the end of July.

must be, Kirby's perfectly fine today, he was perfectly fine yesterday, lol. Fingers crossed it never happens again, for you or me!!! :)

Camper is as cleaned as it's going to get, the floor in the lil kitchen isn't as good as I'd like, it really needs scrubbed with a brush and some high powered something, but it's not going to get it, this weekend anyway, i just ran out of time, lol, BUT everythings wiped down, off and cleaned, and the floor is clean enough to walk on, but not eat on (mom and I have a thing about floors clean enough to eat off of...course mine stay that way for about 5 secs...till the dogs come back in! LOL).

Spiders are so cool, lol, but the brown recluses in the house get killed on a regular basis...thos huge furry wolf spiders I normally just leave, tho I do remove there webs when I see them, lol, but the recluses, them babies has gots ta go!!!! LOL

Going camping tonite, i'm about 25% ready, blah, If the camper is still at home at noon, I'll start hauling all the crap out to it!

GOt a call from adjustor, jet skis are totalled :( on the other hand we got back what we paid for them and we get to keep the skis! :) Whoohoo!!! :) LOL

That reminds me, gotta call underwriting to take coverage off of them but leave the liablity! LOL

*It's FRIDAY!*  *It's FRIDAY!*  DANG it's been a long week!  We might go fishing at a little trout pond not too far away Saturday.  I haven't been fishing in about 3 years and I miss it!  Going to buy my license tonight after I get back from work.

Siezure kid seems to be fine.  Can't help watching him like a hawk!  The boys and hubby are going to the drive-in again tonight 'BRAVE' and The Avengers together.  They won't be home until 2 am!!!  Not sure if they'll want to go fishing after that, but we'll see.

Watered everything early this morning, it's supposed to hit 100 today.  Whooo hoooo--that's MY kind of weather!!  I LOVE the heat.  They  "fixed" the AC at work the other day, darn it!  I was perfectly happy with 80.  The two peeps I work with not so much.  As long as they don't turn it down to 65 or something insane like that I'm ok with AC, but if it's too cold it makes me sick going in and out from cold to heat and back again.  Why people can't leave the thermostats at a steady 72 year round I'll never know.

OK, off to werk (McDonalds first I think today, LOL!)

Camping was good! I got up with a monster headache Saturday, did everything, couldn't shake it. Sigh...so I went to bed at about 8:30 that nite, got up at 8:30 Sunday morning, I felt pretty dang good yesterday! We did spend the day on the river, both days actually!! I just wish (now) we'd came home earlier on Sunday nite b/c midnite is not a good bedtime when you have to go to work! Hubby's friend/cousin that we do all the stuff with spent last nite puking :( hubby thinks he's going to spend this morning puking, so neither one of them are at work! :( I don't feel bad or anything (yet) i'm just tired as heck. Going to bed early tonite for sure, no matter what!!!! :)

Tonks, I haven't been fishing in years either and I kinda miss it! Hubby's friend/cousin wanted to get up at the butt crack of dawn and go fishing a couple of sundays ago, I said NO WAY! LOL I'm not getting up that early! But hubby can go if he wants! :) They ended up not going.

Was supposed to be 96 yesterday, I don't think it made it! Which is fine, that's good enoug for me! It was sooo nice on the river!

We've got wild fires everywhere and it's hot and bone dry and windy as heck.  Not good.  The smoke is everywhere, ash on the cars, allergies going insane, eye's all but blind from the dust and crud.  Smells terrible.  I've been watering the heck out of the yard to keep it from crackling!

We did go fishing, it was hot, caught a couple of planted rainbows.  Got very dirty and tired.  Had fun.

Park yesterday was too windy for the canopy so I left it home.  I was chashing stuff all over the park as it blew away.  Sold a boat-load of the neck coolers, LOL!  All I had to do was convince someone to try the demo on around their neck and they sold themselves.  LOL!  Won't work in a humid area, but boy right now they are a life saver.  I wore mine all day at the park.  Once canopies started tipping over they decided to close an hour early because it was blowing so hard it was dangerous to stay there.

OK Monday.  Busy gots lots of work to do before all the professors leave town.  ugh.

later!

My tummy was cramping pretty bad last nite, but it's not as bad this am. Hubby's feeling somewhat better, his boss/friend is feeling good enough to go to work, they both are working today. Re: FINISHED Reading Harry Potter?
Jun 26, 2012 08:22 AM

It does calm down some in Summer and quite a bit after Christmas.  Right now it's busy because professors are putting together grant proposals to submit before they leave town (or country in some cases).  Plus I have quarterly reports to do and a new policy to have the professors review their projects more often so getting that organized takes extra time.

But it's really fun!

Our AC at work is on the fritz now for all 5 of the 100 degree days we've had.  I do have one of the few windows that opens, and that helps early in the morning, but after the first hour there I have to shut it.  We have a fan, but not much help.  I'm not that bothered by the heat but the two people with me in here are dying!!

Note to any pet people here:  Guinea Pigs take MUCH more work than a rat.  They empty their water bottles out of boredom.  Their bedding needs changed EVERY day.  If you try to give them extra food they just dig it out of the holder and mix it with their bedding so that's wasted.  If you don't play with them enough, they squeal at you until you do.  They are very demanding little monsters.  I'd rather have a Pygmy Puff.

Don't even get me started on my son's Mynah bird.  Son's gone this week and told me to feed and water her.  Sure.  It takes a magician to undo the tabs and whatever on her big water dish (that she dumps everything in to play and then has nothing to drink).  When I open her cage she flys out and laughs while I try to catch her.  She is a real stinker in every sense of the word.  I had no idea how much work son puts into taking care of her.  PITA!!!!

Heat makes me cranky I guess.  LOL!

I got to sew for about 10 minutes last night ad not at all this morning.  grrrrrr.

I'm running around trying to keep the kids in clean clothes and fed, hubby plugs in a movie.  He's up at 6 with the kids (still sleeping) so I go out to water and take care of critters.  When I get back, Hubby is eating his cereal and kids are still sleeping!!!!  I give up.  I know why you have kids when you are young, if I had to do this full time (before and after work) it would kill me now.

I read all 3 of them the riot act this morning and just dropped them off at the other grandma's so we can go to work.  I feel like I've already put in a full day's work.  Sheesh.

The pigs and the myna bird sounds like a whole lotta work, lol, more work then my dogs!!! :)

I'm feeling about 95% today, I still feel like I could go home and take a nap (one now and one later in the afternoon, lol) but other then that i'm doing good, lol. I think we all must have picked something up from the river water, but I'm not 100% sure...none of the kids are sick tho...which is weird...lol...

Mom's feeling better and hubby and boss are feelign better! :)

It's wednesday, then the weekend, whoohoo, then an extremely short week for me, I'll work Monday & Tuesday of next week then i'm off until the following Tuesday! :) We're going on a float trip, and don't ask me where cuz I didn't book it, so I have no freaking idea! :) LOL We leave on the 6th, and of course I have the 5th of July off, I belive I'll never work on that day again, in fact I think I'll just do whatever I want on that day, I think I'm in entitled!

I haven't planned any time off over the 4th with it being on a Wednesday and all.  I've got meetings on the 5th so I'm pretty much just gonna work 2 days, off one day, work 2 days.

Kids (and hubby) are doing much better this morning.  Plus it cooled off some last night (down around 60 instead of 75 or more).  That helps.  Freakin' bird got out again last night.  I've got to have my sone show me how he gets her water dish out and filled 'cause I'm obviously doing something wrong.  She is a real stinker.  She "laughs" at me when she gets out.  And she "sham swears."  It's all mumbled jumbled, but you KNOW she's swearing, LOL!  A LOT like Ralphie's dad in A Christmas Story.

OK, got everything watered, kids both have shoes on, hubby's hair is a mess but it's his hair, told him he and the boys should go get haircuts tonight after work, I'll pay!  LOL!  OK, off to drop kiddies off with "other" grandma and to werk.

There must be a trick, Tonks, to feeding & watering the bird and keeping the bird in the cage! LOL :) I watered all the out door plants this am, and I'll probly have to water them tonite when I get home! Might have to water twice a day for next couple of days! Supposed to be over 100° today! All I know is it's hot out there already!

LOL Fredi, you are right, there IS a trick to the bird.  I've been opening the obvious door to the (big) cage.  It's the whole front of the cage.  However, there is a well disguised SMALL door near the water & food dishes.  Dumb bird can not get out that door!  Only took me 3 days to figure it out.  LOL!

Oh man, had a bad night. Picasso the wonder cat died last night.  :(  He's out big old white orange point that the kids got when they were babies (our Angus is his grandmother).  He was 10 or so, big fat, lazy, overwieght.  And very laid back and happy.

He used up well over his 9 lives in his life time.  When the kids moved and 'gave' him to us he started wandering the entire neighborhood.  He was rescued off roofs, and once was nailed under a deck a neighbor was building and we didn't find him for 3 days that time!  He got into a construction truck when another neighbor was having their roof repaired and spent the night with that guy in West Valley City.

Last night a neighbor brought him to me all wet, muddy and mostly dead.  She didn't realize he'd been hurt and crawled behind her garbage cans, she had run her sprinklers--that's how he got wet.  Any way, he was in a coma from whatever had happened (no wounds) and he died less than an hour later.

sigh.  His "other mother" Christina is away on vacation, it's going to kill me to tell her, she adored that doofey cat.

Anyway, Picasso, (AKA "P.P.") RIP my sweet furry baby boy.

sigh.

Picasso wasn't really a critter chaser.  He was a people person.  It's going ot be so hard to tell his "other mother" what happened.  She just had to put down her big black kitty because of cancer and that really upset her.  She loved this big old duffus cat.

OK Friday.  That's good.  Last scheduled day at the park this Sunday.  I will be there 2 or 3 more times until the last of my stuff is gone, just not sure which days.

ugh.  to werk.

Sorry about your kitty Tonk :(

Supposed to hot here too. But get to stay inside where it's 73 and go home where it's 72. I freeze except when I walk outside to the car.

Had to take my kitty Madison to the vet last week. He couldn't meow. He had a grass seed stuck in his throat. He still can't meow very well and he's lost some wieght but he needed to lose weight. He can still purr so he's fine.

Supposed to be 105 today.  I'm wearing nylon running shorts, a sleeveless shirt, and my sarong wrung out in water, then over my shoulders.
