We've been using a standard "shoebox" cassette recorder for dictation & Panasonic standard cassette transcribers until now at our small (2-attorney, soon to become 1-attorney when 1 retires) law firm. It's getting very hard to replace the equipment when it wears out, though. We'd like to go digital, but are pretty overwhelmed by the choices. The attorney has access to a PC, but would not be at a computer while dictating. (He also does not want to use speech-recognition software.) The secretaries both use MS Word & Windows XP, and are used to using foot-pedals. We'd like something with a relatively short learning curve, perhaps with memory cards that would take the place of tapes, and preferably not super-expensive (perhaps max. $1,000 for everything for 1 attorney & 2 secretaries but the memory cards?). Please help!
