As a buyer I don't care, as seller I don't use Gallery photo, as I noticed no increase in sales. I look at the shipping column before the gallery photo. The prettiest pic in gallery won't make me look at the listing if the s/h are outrageous.

Since I use the Firefox browser with tabbed browsing I can open multiple listings in the same window, and just close the ones that don't interest me.

You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.

Do you prefer to see a gallery picture, or do you prefer to just see listings with the little camera?

Is that even an issue.

Buyers, which do you want ?

I like to see a gallery pic, and if I am in a hurry to find a particular item, I might skip auctions without one....But usually I have plenty of time and most of my buying on ebay is in the jewelry section, I buy beads and beading stuff.
I have pokey slow dial up and it takes a long time for everything to load....so when in a hurry yeah I might not look at your ad. I have sold on ebay ( different ID) and run auctions with and without a gallery pic, I find that more folks LOOK at my auctions if I have a gallery pic....But my sales havent been affected negatively for not having a gallery pic...dont mind me Im babbling...babble babble babble babble babble heheheee!

A gallery photo is a great idea if you want everyone to judge your item from a picture that appears in a size smaller than a postage stamp on a 17" monitor. Oh - and you get to pay 35 cents on each listing for that privilege....

If you actually want to have people click on & LOOK at your listing forget it & just have the photo in the listing (camera icon)...

I quit using it about 3 years ago - unless I have an auction with lots of pictures. Then I get the picture pack & the gallery is included.

This is one of those things that I never understood why people buy....

If you are selling things that start under $9.99 you can get 2 listings for the price of one with gallery....

B-)

I tend to ignore the gallery pictures --except in the clothing field. Not having a gallery pic won't make me not look at your auction if the title has the info I am looking for, but a good gallery pic may make me look at an auction that the title did not grab me.

I shop for books, and the gallery pics just clutter up the list. If a book is competitive price wise I will want to look at the *large* image to see if it looks to be in good condition, you can't tell that from the gallery pic.

Gallery. I tend to scroll past the others rather than opening them all up.

Boy, a seller actually caring about what the buyers might want! You are going to go far with that attitude.

I think for me the answer depends on what kind of store it is. If it's the kind of stuff that specialists or collectors or other "experts" buy then why pay for gallery? They will understand what is being talked about without seeing it. For instance, I only really use the fabric stores on eBay, and I totally don't need to see the gallery pictures because I've been a seamstress for over 40 years and know the difference between "red paisley chenile" and "ivory floral cotton." I'll know what I want to open, look at, and consider just by reading. (All the fabric stores use gallery, but an "expert" like me doesn't need it.)

However if your store is really selling stuff that anybody may or may not want a picture might draw them in.

Another poster said she doesn't notice a difference in the rate of sales between gallery or no. I have to say it's the same with me. In a way no gallery is better because more people visit the listing just to look at the picture, and that gives me that much more chance to attract them to the product with my description.
