ebay not like new people?

Nov 5, 2009 5:47 PM
Hello everyone. I am new and have had help here before. OK, so I got my first 4 feedback (yeah!), and now I have my first 2 wins arrived in mail. I am VERY happy. This is stuff I could not get here at home, and I will be a favorite Auntie when Christmas comes around.

But here's my problem. I tried to leave positive feedback (and good stars - my nephew tells me that is important). But ebay won't let me leave feedback for these beautiful items. It says I'm too new to leave feedback.

What would ebay do this? Nephew said to message the sellers to let them know we are happy - I did. But this feedback thing is confusing. Did I do something wrong?

Its not your fault, its a rather silly rule that you cant leave feedback if your account is less than 5 days old. Its to help prevent people buying and selling feedback as well as to keep people from setting up accounts just to cause problems.

I have never heard of that, but it's been a long time since I signed up. The rules have apparently changed some. They no doubt have their reasons.

You do have 60 days to leave feedback. Try it again in a few days.

I'm sure your sellers appreciated the emails. Your nephew gives good advice:)

Thank you. I really like my first two things (a t-shirt for a niece and ornament for my sister - she loves MIckey Mouse). But the message was not nice - I just want to thank my first sellers. If I treated my customers like this I would not be paying all bills and having money to buy the family stuff for Christmas. Not letting someone say "thank you" is not good I think.

My nephew is a good boy and very smart. They learn computers in school here. But he is still young boy and you know how that is. Trust but not too far they say.

Tia, your nephew is doing a great job helping you. I wish my nephew lived close enough to help me, but he lives very far away, so we talk on the phone.

You can message your sellers like your nephew said, so that they know that your item arrived and you are pleased. Then you can tell them you will be leaving positive feedback as soon as eBay lets you! I think your sellers would be happy to hear that!

You are being a very good and responsibe buyer! Soon you'll be able to join in here and give answers too!

Usually when they make rules like that it's because someone figured out how to cause problems the way it was. It's amazing what some can come up with to get back at someone who's made them angry, or just because they can.

You've got me curious about how old your nephew is. With your first post I assumed he was an adult.

I am new too. Your nephew must be smart. My teenage brothers don't know about feedback. What are stars? Does ebay allow 13 year olds to buy here?

ebay allows anyone to do anything they want - that is why they have a report button on pages like this! So he can buy, sell and best of all , he can come to the boards and find out how to do really swell things!!!! He can learn from the posters here many things that will save him his money even after he wins an auction! ! He can learn from so many of the posters left on these boards such good postive life values! In fact, you will be proud of how experienced in good moral values he will become once he aks questions here!

Thank you. My nephew is 13 years old. He knows ebay because my sister lets him do what he wants. Not good for a boy, I think, but he is a help for me and you know I love him so that is that. I think maybe he spends too much on computer. But it is different now.

They have to be at least 18 to buy here. Anyone can browse around though.

With all the different boards, he can probably learn a good bit on a lot of different subjects. The language is always reasonably clean, no one usually gets too rough...there are certainly a lot worse places he could hang out on the internet than eBay. He sounds like a very nice young man.

These boards are so much nicer now that the other people, who think we buyers are wrong to want it for less than the winning bid are no longer here!

Thank you to all the people who got many "gone" ! Now I can learn more, without sifting through and "moral" type nonsense from those "holier than though" type people. If the rules allow it , why not do it???? Isn't that what the snad, inr, return, policies really written for?

What does that mean? I have never seen anything like you are describing up there.
