How long is too long to wait for parcel post?

Nov 25, 2009 12:48 PM
Hi all, thanks in advance for your advice:

I won a pair of jeans on 11/3, paid via paypal immediately and knew it would be shipping parcel post from Utah to NC. On the 7th I received an email from her stating that her shipping was a bit slow as her baby was sick but it should be here "anytime".

Around the 17th, I sent a nice note requesting any tracking info she might have, as I hadn't received it yet. Typically, it takes between 5-6 business days to ship from NC (where I live) to CA... and since her item was coming from Utah I thought it would take even a bit less than that.

Her email back stated she had again forgotten to ship, but would be doing so soon.

So, even though today is only 6 post office business days later, I'm a bit worried about this seller. Never had this happen before - (I have about 150 transactions on my main account). She also has a 100% record on her account of about 800 transactions. It's only a pair of jeans, but I'd like to receive them. Should I just sit tight a bit longer?

Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating it this year...

Do you know what day she shipped the jeans? Honestly she may not have done so already. Parcel post can take quite a bit of time. 2-8 business days. The fact that she took so long to ship I believe she owes you Priority Shipping. I am mainly a seller and I would venture to say that most would agree with me.

I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way.

The main thing is not to let 45 days pass before you try to file a Paypal claim for Item Not Received. So long as you are timely with a claim, you should be okay (get your money back).

Wait a couple more days then file "Item not Received"

that should get the seller moving.......

Actually, if I were the seller, I'd not only be giving you Priority, but I'd also be refunding your shipping charge. And begging for forgiveness.

This is a big holiday weekend and buyers with families are working on their Thanksgiving preparations. Give it another full 10 days, then file the INR. Don't contact the seller again.

Do not give this seller another ten days.

She has blown off shipping these twice now.

By now, you should have these by now.

If they do not come in the mail tomorrow or Saturday, file the INR.

You can always cancel it if the item comes.

Thanks for all the help - I did file INR when I didn't receive anything Saturday. I got an immediate response through the system saying that, to her memory, she had emailed me on the 7th (?) and not to worry, my package "had been shipped". No tracking info or anything else provided.

Then there was a part about her child being in the hospital out of town for the past several weeks, and she ended the note with a reminder for me to "count my blessings".

On a side note, she did have time to bid on and win an item on the 6th. Well, maybe I'll find out one way or another now, right?

Thanks again!

I received an email message from her today, saying that she would "really appreciate it" if I would respond to Paypal so that the dispute can be closed. Unfortunately, I still haven't received the jeans or the tracking info.

I also saw that she had time to list about 5 items on 11/25 and sold them (she had 5 day auctions).

Do I remember correctly that people recommend no further communication with each other outside of Paypal at this point?
I feel like writing her to say, as soon as I get the item this will be resolved.

Thanks for reading, I know it's a minor issue, it's just irking me.

I would ignore her emails, don't have anymore communication with her and let paypal take care of the rest. She could of shipped them by now or had someone ship them for her.

You should not be communicating with the seller utside the Paypal dispute console. She is clearly trying to get your to cancel the dispute.:_| Do NOT.

Just escalate the dispute to a claim, since she has respnded to the dispute. You must do so or Paypal will auto close the dispute 20 days after your file.

At this point Paypal will require her to prove with D/C the items have been delivered.

If she can't then you will be refunded.

If the jeans do arrive , later then just repay the seller.

Her personal issues did not prevent her from accepting your money, listing additional items and frankly are not your problem.;)

Do NOT respond to the paypal dispute until you recieve the item, or a full refund......... She is only asking you to close it so you will be SOL with paypal (and a neg fb).
