How to find sellers who accept instant visa payments not via Paypal!

Nov 4, 2009 3:41 PM
I tried making a purchase in ebay yesterday from a seller that said it takes credit and debit visa card purchases / orders, only to discover once I clicked to buy it now, that they only do so using cumbersome and slow paypal or via order form and check or money order sent to their personal business address.
Which is NOT what I am willing to do. I just need to be able to buy a product and pay for it inside ebay instantly using my credit / debit visa card! Why does ebay make this so difficult, and seemingly require us to use paypal? I will NOT use paypal at all. How stupid to require that!
Most online sellers have some intelligence enough to know to design ordering system so buyers can simply and directly one step use our credit or debit visa cards directly to order items.

And I have yet to find a way to do a search to find only sellers who accept direct, instant visa card payments within ebay. Anyone know how to find such sellers? They all are saying they do but turns out only via paypal.

i just want to make one payment. Not go through yet another avenue, and paypal says it takes days after having to go through extra process of transferring or linking to my credit card or bank account for my money to even show up in paypal, thus taking longer to actually complete purchases and transactions.

Any extra intermediaries as such are just in the way. And I want what I want NOW!

I'm new to all of this and I hope someone with more experience can help you.

It was not at all difficult to set up the PayPal account. I did spend too much money too quickly, which led to frequent calls from my credit card companies fraud department. But when I linked Paypal to my checking account, it was easier than ever.

Like I said, I hope someone who can explain this better than I can will post something!

You only have to sign up with PayPal once, get one bank account or credit card verified, and then a couple of days later you can start using it. No money needs to "show up" in PayPal - when you make a payment, it is either an instant payment from your bank account or an immediate charge to your credit card. The seller gets payment right away - there is no waiting unless you select the "e-check" option.

All you have to do is remember one additional password - your username in PayPal is your email address. Just click "Pay Now," enter your email and password on PayPal's login screen, and then click another button to pay. Takes no time at all.

You can't. eBay has no incentive to let you search for sellers that way; they own PayPal.

And BTW, I do agree it sucks, and I really wish the payment process were better integrated with eBay. So even if I sounded unsympathetic above, I really do sympathize. There ARE some annoying things about PayPal, but overall I do think it may be easier than you're expecting.

Oh, and there IS one major benefit to buying with PayPal - the protection you get. If you have a problem with an item not receiving, you file a dispute with PayPal - if the seller cannot prove delivery, you get a full refund. If you have a problem with an item not as described, file a dispute with PayPal and 99 times out of 100, they will side with you as the buyer and you will get a refund when you return the item.

(Of course, you can file with your credit card company if you have problems, but the PayPal process is a lot easier and you're also a lot more likely to win.)

PayPal is actually pretty good for buyers. Sellers are generally the ones with the real problems with PayPal, because they're the ones who almost always lose when PayPal gets involved.

Rushgirl, thanks for explaining it in an easy way!

PayPal is easy, and I see many advantages to using it. I don't want to give my credit card numbers to just anyone, so PayPal offers a bit of protection there too.

I think the OP will be very happy when/if he signs up, it's very convenient.

The only seller's who can do that are ones who have their own merchant account, which is usually a big box seller. The average individual seller on ebay doesn't have a merchant account so they only way they can accept credit card payments is thru paypal.

I would much rather use PayPal (which I have used since it's beginning) than give my info to a complete stranger. At least with paypal it's done on a secure page.
