***Item Condition to Debut in Clothing, Shoes & Accessories***

Sep 26, 2005 3:27 PM
In early October, we plan to introduce item condition (e.g., New: With Tags, New Without Tags, etc.) in Clothing, Shoes & Accessories. If you list in a category that already has Item Specifics, your item condition options (e.g., New: With Tags) will remain unchanged.

Examples of some categories that will have a new item condition include: Infants & Toddlers, Boys, Girls, Uniforms and Wholesale, Large & Small Lots.

Item condition is an important piece of information for buyers, and we’ve found that listings with specified conditions are more likely to sell. For clothing, shoes & accessories, item condition is especially important to buyers, and clearly indicating whether an item is new or used improves the rate of success across these types of listings.

While buyers won’t be able to immediately filter using item condition, the item condition selected by the seller will appear on the item page just above the description.

Item condition will be available in early October for sellers who list items through the Sell Your Item form, Turbo Lister, Seller Assistant, Seller Assistant Pro, or Selling Manager Pro. For these eBay seller tools, this may require downloading an update. If you utilize a 3rd party listing service (e.g., Andale, Marketworks, etc.), please contact them to verify that they will offer the item condition functionality in these categories.

Visit the item condition landing page at Link to learn how to adopt item condition. If you have comments or feedback about item condition, please email them to ebaymichelle@ebay.com and they will be considered for future enhancements.

Regards,

Michelle

I think this is a good idea. Although I wish they would add sweatshirts and hooded (hoody) to the choices. I'm always at a loss of where to put them.

I think this is a great idea. I noticed that U.K. auctions have a bar about item specifics including "condition" which is great and I wished the U.S. would have it too.

I think all categories should have this option.

Example, U.K. Auction with condition:

I always try to let customers know, since most of my items are new with tags. However, I have found that many individuals bidding do not know what NWT means, but they do know what NEW means. To spell it all out takes too much of the title space. Any suggestions? Thank you, etc.andsoforth

I like the idea, but most of my items are used. Since there is already 'NWT' as a search option, itt seems more useful if we could have some kind of used categorization i.e. 'like new' 'lightly worn' 'destroyed', etc... I always have to click on the 'other' link and then type in "used", which is kind of a pain.

It would be nice if there was a "Like New" or "Excellent" or "Very Good" option. Most of my items are not new.

How about having to disclose whether or not the item is 'irregular'?

Right now, I am finding that any kind of jackets, sweaters, new or like new are selling really well for me. For binjcutie--people are looking for warm winter wear & Christmas gift items right now. If you have anything that fits that category, you should do well with them! Also, listing the item as a gift (ie: putting the word "gift" right into your title) will help sell it faster & bring more customer traffic to your item. I hope this helps-lol! :)

I have never been accused like this, so I feel bad. I feel bad that people have to deal with dishonest sellers and dealing with damaged items. I recently bought a dress. The description for the dress said it was in excellent used condition. When I received the dress it had numerous holes in it, and was discolored from wear. How do we as buyers protect ourselves from setup scams? I bought and paid for the dress and it was in bad condition. First she said I wanted to keep the dress, then Seller claimed she wanted the dress back. And accused me of having too high standards. I left her bad feedback. She accused me of destroying the dress. Sellers idea of fixing the issue was for me to send the dress back to her and she would refund my money. How do I trust that that will bedone when she has already misrepresented the condition. Do you think I would have gotten my money back? I offerred to send it back to her if she would pay for shipping only. She said no. I told her I would relist the dress with all her emails attached. I think people should be aware of when you are being setup. She has about 5 negative feedbacks, I only have the one from her after being a buyer and seller on ebay for over 3 years. She had the listing pulled. Then she accused me of calling her home, and lodged a complaint to the police. I wasn't even home that night and nowhere near a phone, I didn't call her. She must have others calling her. Her setup scam is probably catching up with her, what do you think?

You need to file reports! SNAD from your dispute console.

EBay doesn't look at F/B. They DO monitor reports.

Also, if you paid by PayPal, the SNAD (Significantly Not as Described) will put you to PatPal and they will make her refund.

Good luck.

I am a newbie to E-Bay selling but I am familiar with how it works, I would love some help PLEASE, I have several pairs of shoes of my mother that has passed, that has never been worn with price tag on insoles, but she kept them in one of those net type shoe racks that hang on doors with about 10-15 pairs, I'm sure you know the kind.,My question is if they are maybe a small less than 1/4 in scratch or scuff on them thats not very noticeable, should I list NWT and in condition section list that flaw or should I not list them as NWT? Thanks for any help. Larry
