movie star vintage postcards

Sep 30, 2009 5:00 PM
I have a stack of vintage movie star postcards and would like to find a way of determining the value of them. If anyone can help me or direct me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate the help. I have roughly 100 of these postcards with both movie stars and western actors. Some of the names on the postcards are The Lennon Sisters, Steve Allen, Roy Rogers, Lee Marvin, Jack Benny, John Wayne, Gabby Hayes. The postcards have either Made in USA printed in lower right corner or Printed in USA printed in lower right corner. All postcards have the persons signature on it (such as Best Wishes, Jack Benny). Any help or information would be great. Thank you.

What you are describing might be called arcade cards. You could try searching that for starters. They also have another name related to the company that printed a lot of them. That name escapes me at the moment.

I'll be looking for this answer, too. I was just about to post the same question. My cards are all from silent film stars - Mary Pickford, Norma Talmadge, William Farnum, etc. The names are written on them, too, but nothing else. I know they aren't lobby cards because those are for the movie and cigarette cards are smaller.

Google Kromo Gravure. These were the original movie cards that I have. Yours aren't as old as mine, but there are other items listed by people who sell the later ones also. Good luck.
