14 day return policy
Jun 15, 2012 04:39 AM

I am just about ready to retire the 14 day return policy from all my items listed.

I have had some people switching out items/parts with knockoffs and returning them in the original bag/box for a refund.

I have had people fit new parts to their old projects only to return them at the 14th day for a refund.

That's very frustrating. But they could still file a SNAD & have 45 days to do so.

I sell pre-owned clothes...tried the 14-day return and had same result...people figure it's used so I can wear it, ruin it, say I didn't describe a stain and then get their money back...plus they want free shipping both ways!  Not happening for me...if eBay punishes me like they say they will with putting my ads at the bottom so be it.  That's better than paying somebody to wear the items I sell!  Back to NO Return...it works for me.

It matters to the buyer!  A return policy says, "I stand behind my product."  If people are switching parts on you, that is a tough one, I agree, block those sellers.

I've never had a SNAB but I print details on the photo as well as in the item description. I suppose one day it will happen tho...

I have owned antique stores..truist me..if someone THINKS you will allow a return, they will TRY. There are impulse shoppers who will spend a fortune one day and spend an entire day going back to stores and returning it all. It's fun to shop... not fun to get the bill. There are loads of people doing this now on Ebay. No matter how well you describe, someone will say its your fault. They will use your china and silver at xmas to impress the in-laws or neighbors and return it Dec 26th. They will wear your Designer dress or suit to their sons wedding or graduation and return it the next day. They will replace their broken antique vase with your perfect one and leave you will nothing but a broken vase. This all happens and Ebay allows it.
