What's with all the non-paying people lately? In the past 2 weeks I've had 4.
Anyone else having this issue?

Yes, I do block them - unfortunately it's after the fact. Sure wish EBAY would help sellers - atleast let us leave negative feedback again.

No negative buyer feedback has brought out the kooks, the scammers, and the dreamers. Ebay isn't filtering them out, so we're all seeing this increase. For newer buyers, and for those I suspect, I am now going into the buyers feedback files and reviewing both the feedback received AND the feedback they have left for others (that can be quite telling...such as "Thanks for being so understanding", "Good to work with", etc.). When I see that, I am now voiding their bid and immediately blocking them from future auctions. I am probably losing a good sale now and then, but it beats going through the "no pay" process and/or low DSRs and Negative Feedback from deadbeat buyers.

I'm an occasional seller/buyer on eBay and haven't had this problem with no-pay. But I don't take eBay seriously, especially lately, and I think that's the problem with sellers. As long as the seller has the goods, the no-pay buyers are an inconvenience and nothing more. Problems increase when sellers see eBay as a primary source of income. Do as other respondents here have suggested and block bidders from participating; don't ship to countries with high postal theft; insure items with tracking, etc. In other words, protect yourself as best you can. Keep in mind that retailers with web sites have the same problems, as do the brick & mortar. eBay has simply leveled the playing field.

seems lately I have been getting more non payers....therefore I am experimenting more with BIN with immediate payment....
These also seem to be newbies who just registered.
You can set buyer requirements to block bidders with unpaid item strikes also "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

You can make it so anyone buying from you have to pay when they purchase the item. And anyone that says it hurts your sales well your wrong we have been here just over a year and we have sold over 60k so it does not hurt your sales just hurts the scammer.

It's getting to the point where it is not worth me selling on eBay anymore. The hassle with nonpaying bidders is just not worth my time anymore. I have had 32 non payers in the last couple months, 5 this week alone. I wish we could leave negative feedback I really do think it would help.

I've had a couple. And I have a feeling I have 3 more that I haven't heard from yet. 0 feedback. They come in at the end of the auction, knock a serious buyer out of the bid and run. They're coming out of the woodwork this week. I wish there was someway to find out their Paypal acct. e-mail address so I can catch-up with them and give them a piece of my mind. It's a real nuisance. Then we have to open a unpaid item claim, and can't sell the item till the claim is closed. Honestly, when I see a bidder with 0-10 feedback, I cringe.

You can get all their information by going to the advance option, on left hand side there is an option that say get members contact information, click it, put in the user id and the item # of the auction and you will get an email with name, phone # etc.
Also when you get the end of auction letter it will have that info as well.
I am leaving Ebay, they suck and more seller should as well.
Will it hurt ? Maybe but the more that leave the more buyers will come to other sites.

I don't sell a lot here but I've been trying to sell one item and had a non payer on the first attempt. Filed claim and then relisted. Had a winning bid that I have not heard from in a couple days after sending the invoice and a polite eBay message to. If this one does not pay, it's going up for BIN and force pay.

I have a non paying bidder that has gone on for 15 days since the end of the auction. I have contacted them twice with no reply so I opened up a case with eBay. I hope they do not think I am paying final value fees or anything else since no transaction took place.
These bidders who do not pay should be suspended for 3 months automatically the first time so they will see how much trouble it is when they do not keep their promises..... much like somebody we have had in office for 3 1/2 years!
I do not want to relist this item until the issue is settled, but time is just ticking away. There must be a way to have these items paid for the minute the bidder wins the auction, that would be a great system to put in place, just like so many auction houses.
These non paying bidders need some negative feedback at least.

Cuuvee....don't wait 5 days let alone 15 days, they will just string you along. On the 4th day turn them into Ebay as a non-paying buyer. They then have 4 more days to pay, and if they don't you close the case and get your fees refunded and relist the item. Ebay also has a way to do this automatically for you (we don't use it). My feeling is that if someone is buying an item, they should be able to pay for it then and there. If they can't, they shouldn't be bidding. Unfortunately with Ebay's broken Feedback system, we can't see what kind of a buyer we are dealing with most of the time.
Also, be sure to block deadbeat bidders from future bidding (go to the bottyom of the page and click on "Site Map", you'll see the like to add blocked bidders).

I too have had many non paying bidders lately. Ebay is all about protecting the buyers and no longer have the seller in mind. By this i mean we get screwed by having to wait 4 days to file a case and then 4-7 days more to close it and be able to relist it.
Ebay needs to bring back the ability to leave negative feedback on non paying bidders so everyone can see what these people are actually like, and hurry the case closing a bit.

Perfect post! Out of 11 auctions, 6 were 0 feedback ebayers who came in at the end. Of course, none of them payed :o(. I'm getting SO TIRED of this and I to cringe at the sight of a low feedback ebayer (newbies).

look at your buyer requirements
require paypal acct is another option
use buy it now with immediate payment required
and please dont wait more than 4 days to file unpaid item report "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

stevenmelcollectibles....Thank you for that info about going to "Advanced" and clicking on "Contact information". I have done that now on 4 non-paying bidders - I called them and 2 have either paid and said they forgot they had bid or they emailed me that they had the wrong email address on their ebay account. Wow, that was a big help....Now I'm not thinking of them as "deadbeat bidders" anymore I guess.

hello All .
I am new to the forums..not new to ebay. (2002) This past week I have had 6 Non Payers...4 that went all the way to a mark against them. But it's sad that there is no way to let other Sellers know about these people. Most of the non payers had 10 or MORE buys. I think it's changed a little. The newbie bidders are good for awhile...then get carried away with buying after about 8-10 purchases...
Doesn't Ebay hierarchy see that taking Negative Feedback comments away from the Sellers... carries repercussions? Upsetting the balance of fair business calls in Judgement. Kharma or Heavenly Judgement...call it what you like. Ebay is being Sued more than ever before by disgruntled Sellers. If Ebay would spend time EQUALING the playing field between Buyers and Sellers, they would save a fortune in lawsuits. Keep sellers happy and Ebay make BIG BUCKS. Instead they worry about keeping buyers happy for "Dollars", rather than attracting Sellers for Millions.
In the past few years, I have seen many Sellers move to their own websites due to the alleged unfair polices and restrictions.
In my opinion, which isn't worth much, Ebay has got issues with micro management. All the policing in the world cannot force people to come to Ebay...either buyers or sellers. And they are spending a fortune in staff.
