I'm not even getting that first view you normally get when you post a new listing. So, it looks like the bots that check new listings are down at least.

 

I think hondo civic beans and dreamy ruthy are self apointed ebay employees, don't pay them no mind, as another ebay member said  they are always "blowing smoke up everyones you know what"

 

hondo, what are you doing? is ruthy dreaming to be your wife? did you tell here you have many parts and would be a great partner?

Last year when I listed items with a popular brand- like Victoria's Secret or Vera, for example, I would have 5-10 hits just in the first 5 min. More recently I had these items sit for 24 hours with less than 3 hits total. SAME ITEMS. The drop off has been dramatic. I'm really hoping things pick up as the holidays approach. I sell from many catagories too, and no china junk.

I am chalking it up to the vast numbers of August vacations and back to school etc. September will be the ltmus test.

I don't think so. Comparing to just last year, which technically should have been worse, both site visits, watchers, and buyers are way down. Activity at the start and end of the auctions is about the same, but "in-between" everything seems to go into Limbo Land. The other thing I find weird I have mentioned before, you get better search results in Ebay using the Google search engine rather than Ebay's own search engine. THAT is going to work against them as others discover this, because it brings up competitive sites.

It is now September. sales have slowed even more for me, the summer was brutal, I do a lot of off site promotion, and I sayed afloat, many in my selling catagory didn't survive the summer, some 5-10 year sellers. I feel that my off site promotion saved me. but It is a lot of work without much gain. If I don't have a winter to remember like the last 2 years, I will  probably call it quits.

 

Too many changes here at eBay, they stack up you know. to the point where the weight crushes your spirit, bottom line though, can you make enough money to make it worth while?  I have a number, If that number can't be reached, its time to move on. Of course, that would mean quitting completely, I have sold on blujay, ecrater,atomic mall, many places, for what I sell, eBay is king, even Amazon can't really compete.

 

But is Google going  have to an auction site?

 

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how sweet that would be?

There is no doubt about the drop in sales. It is a fact that ebay members are dropping like flies. Push sellers so far and this is the result. Ebay acted as if buyers and sellers were two different people. Most of the buyers here are also sellers. My best buyers were sellers, and they are now gone.......  With the never ending policy changes i can tell you this drop in members is going to continue. The constant threat to a seller about this stupid star chart is more than most will deal with long term. The feedback system here is trash. When you mix your buyers with your sellers through such a system it will fail every time. It took me a lot of years to learn about some of the great items i have sold. So why would i want every copycat monkey see monkey do no skill loser to see what i sold for how much and to who? Not to mention that if you like to resell an item you purchased from ebay you have to have multiple accounts to keep your price paid a secret from your buyers. This place is failing hard. I do not think it will recover this time. As the old timers will tell you.... The good ol days are behind us all here on the bay.
