Shipping Costs

After checking my seller dashboard I see that I have low ratings for shipping & handling. Apparently people do not like to pay for shipping because 1. I mail everything within the stated time (or sooner) and 2. I take a loss on the shipping on every Parcel Post item I send - I make it up somewhat on the eBay priority discounts but overall at the end of the month there is out of pocket. 3. I pack all breakables with tons of bubble (not cheap) and have had no breakage. It seems I can't win.

today I shipped a package that cost much more that I thought & charged....learned a lesson not to guess the postage.

packing materials are very costly and printer ink runs out so fast :(

Hi, pretty new to selling, but we can include a little extra in the shipping area to help cover the cost of tape and ink etc, right? Obviously not going to get rich off of shipping to people, but at least it shouldn't leave us in a hole, right? (Sorry to barge in on your convo).

Whatever we invoice the buyer for shipping, there is a 9% fee that we as a seller have to pay. Are you aware of that? So that is on top of all the other fees.

I get marked down on my dashboard as well. It's not really fair. I get marked down on communication, & I always answer any question I have as soon as it's there, not to mention, I always send a note with every shipment that goes out which includes a thank you & the tracking number. Plus, I will ship an item the same day it is paid for even if it's after my mail carrier picks up providing I can get it to the post office before it closes.

Still, I'm getting marked down.

I wish ebay would do away with the stars because we do not know which buyers mark us down or why.
