UNFAIR PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Feb 25, 2012 04:41 AM

I purchased a very cheap scotch tape dispneser from councils_closeouts for just 99 cents. But when i went to pay for the item, this seller required that i give him my home phone number inorder to complete the transaction. My home number is a private number, and its that way for a good reason. I hate telephone sollicitors. I wrote the seller and kindly asked him to please just cancel the transaction because i dont give out my phone number, especially to someone online. The seller totally ignored my requests, so in order to avoid an unpaid item agaisnt me, i had to add my phone number to my shipping address. Anyone i have ever bought from knows, i always pay for whatever i buy IMMEDIATELY, like i wish others would do as well. Is this within Ebays rules to require your phone numer be givien? i really cant see that it would be, even Ebay doesnt have my private number on file. If i'm wrong then i stand corrected and admit i'm wrong, however i just cant see how this can be allowed. I think a person should be allowed to give out his phone number to who he wants to, and not anyone else.

From your "won" listing...

Your order will be shipped directly from my supplier's warehouse via carrier of the supplier's choice to addresses in the 48 contiguous* United States.

You bought from a dropship seller = his supplier may be using UPS/FedEx as the shipper which may require the "recipient" phone # so they can contact direct if there's a delivery problem.

If eBay doesn't have your correct phone number and you cannot be reached at the number you gave them, you are in violation

I have gone through this TWICE now.  Told Ebay they need to mark the auctions that require a phone number as I WILL NOT BUY from anyone who demands my phone number!

Sellers TAKE NOTE.  You will lose sales from ME!
