Donation against my will..I need help..
Jul 2, 2012 06:07 AM

Today I have punched in my CC details into the Financial information section under my personal details tab of my account home..

I was unable to realise that this was for the givingworks at first , however once I've punched my CC details I was greeted by a page that explained me about givingworks and there is a mandatory minimum donation of $1 in case I sell an item ..

I thought "oh well, I've made a mistake but I'm not selling anything and that should be fine" and I've continued with my purchase ..

In my purchase screen I saw the checkbox for donating to givingworks and did NOT select that .. I was shown my purchase + shipping costs and that is what I've agreed on paying .. After confirming I have been transferred to my paypal acc. to finalize the payment in which I also was not notified of anything extra ..

Now when I check my CC summary in my internet banking I see that I actually have donated to missionfish..

Can anybody explain to me how did it happen that I did NOT ever sell an item on e-bay , neither did I select the checkbox for missionfish donation when I was confirming my purchase but still my money was taken ??

Thanks in advance

Where do you see the donation to giving works and what is the amount of the charge? It is possible that you are only seeing the $1 preauthorization that takes place everytime you use a credit card via PayPal. This is a temporary placeholder that merely allows the credit card processors to give PayPal an authorization number and should drop off in 3-4 days and the amount of the charge will then replace this $1.00. If it hasn't dropped by now then I suggest you contact eBay or the Giving Works to dispute the extra fee.
