How to contact businesses?

Feb 14, 2009 1:22 PM
Im fundraising for a service dog for my children. I asked the non-profit to setup an account to I could sell items to raise money. I would like to bring in more money for the non-profit 4 Paws For Ability in addition to my fundraising for my kids. I have to raise $14,000 in donations in honor of Owen & Annabelle Luscei for 4 Paws for Ability to get my kids a service dog. While other stores donating won't help my kids directly because it wont be in their honor I would still like to bring in donations for the charity as a whole. How can I spread information about 4 Paws for Ability to businesses to see if they will donate part of their profit? Im just not sure how to get the word out.

There are literally thousands of charities on ebay already, registered through Missionfish. You can do that too. I'm sorry to say that I don't think people online are going to donate to this particular cause of yours when they have so many locally or that they know about globally. You can register too, and spread the word around your community, and ask for items to sell here as a fundraiser.

Many service dogs are free - who is asking you for 14,000?

I do not know what breed of dog you need or what specific training the dog needs, however, for $14,000 you could get about 7 (or more) pure breed dogs and hire the best trainer in your area for a year.

Or get a mixed breed from a shelter, pay for local training and save $12,000. If I'm able to train my dog in agility, you certainly would be able to help train a service dog!

If your heart is set on being a fundraiser, there are tons of ways to get donations - just do a google search for fundraising and you get more hits than you can shake a stick at (a little dog humor). Can you partner with a current charity? Best of luck.

I'm confused, I thought you stated this was a NON-Profit Organization... if they charge $14,000 for a dog they don't seem like a charity.
