How to handle payments

Hi!

I just recently got my Tibetan Buddhist center registered and I am donating a percentage to them on some of my auctions.  My question is:  is there a best/easiest way to handle getting the money to them?  Should they open a Paypal account and have me transfer it?  Should I let missionfish handle it?  How do THEY disburse the funds?  This is all new to me and I'm not sure what would be the easiest, most logical way to handle this..I'm not even sure what the different options are!

Thanks!

Hi joliefan!

It's great to hear you've been able to get your organization registered, and have started adding them as a beneficiary to your listings!!

Let me try and help with your question. Unless you are a Direct Seller for the organization (which means you’re are listings items the nonprofit owns, at a 100% donation amount) you will be selling these items as a Community Seller. All Community Seller donations are paid to MissionFish. Here are the two ways donations can be paid:

  • Actively pay your donation through your My eBay account. Within your My eBay account, locate the Accounts tab. There you will locate your Donation Account. Once in your Donation Account you can find your Donations Due and make a payment.

OR

  • Let MissionFish collect the donation automatically from the preferred method of payment you have on file in your Donation Account. MissionFish will collect the donation on the fourth Monday after your listing closed (If you wish to view or update this payment method, you may do so through your Donation Account).

The fastest way to get your donations to your nonprofit is to actively pay your donation. When you are going through this process of making the payment, you are given the option to waive your right to a refund. If you choose to select that option, MissionFish will then deliver your donations in their next month’s payout. On the 25th of each month MissionFish pays donations to all nonprofits with payments due. Therefore, if for instance you paid your donation in June -and waived your right to a refund - the donation would be paid to the nonprofit in the July 25th payout.

If you actively pay, but do not waive your right to a refund, MissionFish will hold the donation This allows time for any issues you may have with your buyer to be resolved. This also protects the nonprofit, so we don’t deliver a donation, and then need to have it returned to MissionFish. In this case, if you paid the donation in June - and did not waive your right to a refund - MissionFish will deliver the donation in the August 25th payout.

If you allow for MissionFish to automatically charge you for the donation on the 4th Monday after your listing closed, the donation is delivered in the following month’s payout. Therefore, if for instance you listing closes on June 12th, and you do not sign in to your Donation Account to actively pay it, MissionFish will automatically collect your donation on July 9th (4 Mondays later). Your donation will then be paid in the next months payout, August 25th.

I know this all might seem a little complicated, but I hope it helps. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out to the MissionFish Community Care team for more information. You can do that here.
