Nonprofits: post your thanks to the eBay Community here!

Dec 15, 2008 12:41 PM
As always, the eBay Community is incredibly generous, raising millions of dollars for all sorts of worthy organizations this year. If you're one of those organizations who received a donation from a Community member, this is your chance to thank them and let them know what wonderful things their donations set into motion!

Please post your stories here, thanks!

Someone at MissionFish need to respond immediately or I will have to turn over payments and what is showing on eBay to my attorneys.

I have donated hundreds of dollars using MissionFish on eBay. I go to download my tax info so I can finish up my year end accounting and I see 0 donations in my Donation account, but I have withdrawal receipt from Paypal.

I have called and emailed Mission Fish with no response. If I have no response by 1/15/2009, I will have no choice but turn over all data to my attorneys and the IRS.

Okay I have tried to be civil, I have contacted both Mission Fish and eBay. Both giving me the run around. I am contacting the IRS first thing Monday morning and my attorney. With invoices like these:

Jun 6 09:50:08 NWT Authentic Akademiks Rebel Tee Size XL $32.00 360058954174 Final Value Fee -$0.14
eBay Giving Works credit: 20%

And monies like these taken from my account:
June 12, 2008 31.40 to Mission Fish
June 30, 2208 10.00 to Mission Fish
July 14, 2008 14.00 to Mission Fish
July 21, 2008 29.00 to Mission Fish
Aug 25, 2008 19.00 to Mission Fish

This is Ebay's response:
those items did not appear to have included donations.

Thank you to all community sellers who donated a percentage of their sales to our organization. Because of your generosity, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be better able to serve our patients and our vital mission. We appreciate your donation and hope you will continue to support our cause in the future through eBay Giving Works.

Because our residents cannot speak for themselves, we would like to say a big "Thank You" to all of our generous supporters who have donated to Angel Horse Rescue, Inc. this past year. Your support has enabled us to continue our mission of helping horses in need. With the current economy, there are more and more horses needing our assistance and we just wanted you to know that your generous contributions really do make a difference in the lives of these horses and are truly appreciated!
Thank you so much!

To all of those who donated a portion of their sales to Family to Family, we thank you so much! Family to Family is a community based not-for-profit hunger relief program for profoundly poor and hungry families in the US. The program creates a bridge between suburban communities with enough to share and some of our country's most impoverished areas. Thank you so much for helping us achieve our goal -- every little bit counts so much.

On behalf of the animals, volunteers, and board of directors of Saving Paws Animal Rescue, Thank You for your generous support of this organization.

We can't help our wonderful permanent residents and those waiting to be adopted without the help of our donors. You've helped us find and provide homes for over 1,000 animals!!

Can anyone kindly suggest ways by which I can access E-Bay's community to help the Lakota Tribe (Nation) in South Dakota form freezing to death???

Much help is needed & I am ONLY ONE person. I've gotten some mostly clothes item donations thus far (which was already sent to them via USPS) but they need items like: sleeping bags (for subzero temperatures-since it's -45 degrees F there..), cast iron wood-burning stoves, construction materials (lumber, nails, wall boards, windows, doors, etc..) to build & winter-proof their delapidated shacks (which are floorless & even, on occasion, roofless..!), weather-proofing supplies, plastic sheets for windows, etc.. In addition: one or more generators (for power outages), crock pots, eating utensils, electric skillets, teapots, etc..

Awaiting anyone's kind responses with many thanks & blessings!

As a new member of the eBay Giving Works program, the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority, would like to thank the first eBay Community member to support our organization, historyfanatic. GHHSA operates the tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, providing life-changing tall ship experiences to young people and adults in Washington, Oregon, California, and British Columbia since 1989.

We're receiving donations from people all over the country that we've not had a relationship with in the past--what a wonderful suprise! It shows that EBay is real people that care about others.
Arts & Scraps is supported not only with their money, but with their confidence and enthusiasm. This year we will recycle 28 tons of industrial scraps into learning and creative material for 275,000 children and really appreciate the help. Link

Mission Fish takes 20% of donations made by sellers. This is ridiculous. When I first made 100% contributions to a charity I was willing to accept a "nominal fee" but this is plain stupid and greedy. 20%? This is a total racket, the people I've talked to at Ebay agree but won't do anything about it.
