$20,000 eBay Daily Deal Bonus Program

Hi Everyone,

We're excited to launch the first eBay Partner Network Bonus Program with $20,000 in Cash Prizes up for grabs!!!

Starting today, from June 1st through July 31st we will be giving away nine $1,000 Weekly Cash Prizes, one $1,000 Best Daily Deal Integration Prize, and a $10,000 Grand Prize!

Expect to find an email explaining the full details shortly, if you have not yet received it. You will need to complete the registration form, integrate eBay Daily Deal creative on your site(s), and start generating eBay Daily Deal sales to be eligible to win.

Here are the official rules.

Get eBay Daily Deal banners and product feed.

Here's a quick overview on how this will work:
You’ll want to complete the entry form and place eBay Daily Deal ads on your site as soon as possible. That will get you entered in the program, but to be eligible to win one of the nine $1,000 Weekly Bonus Prizes you’ll also need to generate at least one eBay Daily Deal sale during the week of the drawing. So, to be entered and eligible for the first week drawing you’ll need to register and generate at least one eBay Daily Deal sale by 6/7/09. You will only need to register and generate at least one Daily Deal sale between 6/1 and 7/31 to be eligible for the $10,000 Grand Prize. However, the weekly drawings require that at least one Daily Deal sale is made in that particular week’s time range. Sales made in previous weeks will not carry over.

About the $1,000 Design Contest
The Design Contest will award a $1,000 Bonus to 1 (one) publisher who creates the best all around eBay Daily Deal experience on their site. The criteria we’ll use to judge will be:

1. URL name (eBay TM is not allowed in the domain)
2. Creativeness of Daily Deal integration
3. Overall brand messaging


The ePN team will select the top 3 Finalists to be voted on by the eBay Partner Network Discussion Board Community to determine the winner. To be part of the community voting please visit this thread and leave a reply to vote on your favorite design between August 5th and August 14th.

At first I wasn't sure I'd be able to make use of the daily deal bonus program because off topic items typically don't convert well on my type of site.

I decided to go ahead and give my forums some daily deal bling (banners in customized places) and to my surprise the forums behave differently from the main site.

My site visitors are mostly from search but the forum visitors are mostly regulars and the regulars are more interested in these kinds of savings, even if they are off topic.

might try a random script and a few creatives of the same size to see which ones perform the best in which areas. It could be the rotation itself results in more revenue.

If you have a high volume site, google optimizer is a good way to deploy and track these sorts of trials. The ebay reports by toolid might do well too if you're randomizing them yourself and the toolid's are different (otherwise use the customids)

The last 5 days I've had 6000 clicks, 5 of them on my Daily Deal banner... Not much, but I would be surprised if it was more. This is just not working for niche websites like I have.

In a previous post I mentioned to have a Daily Deal in every category, but I realize that this is not the way the Daily Deal should be, there would be too many.

But: It would be great to have a banner where I can choose the cats where my visitors are interested in!

Choose the Daily Deal banner -> choose a couple of categories, done. So if I had a website about stamps, then I would choose some stamp related cats and then the banner willl only show up when there are stamp related items in the Daily Deals.

I disagree.

If you are an Amazon Affiliate, you can do Best Deals ... in any Category .

It is not too many ... it just gives you a choice in (or close to) your niche. Also you can pick the price range for your Best Deals. Approx. 28% of my sales in Amazon are through the Best Deals ads.

So far I have not even had a single click under eBay's.

Amazon best deals and bestsellers aren't the same thing.

Amazon's comparable feature is shown under "Today's Deals" in their page header. It works like eBay's.

The point isn't to target topics, it's to target deal seekers. To do that you have to show items in volume. Trying to show single items would destroy the feature and just wouldn't be possible in some categories.

Though I'd like to see lower quantities offered for some items , especially for items running overnight. That would provide more action. Some of these items are active for 8 hours or more. And more non-tech items, though with the listing requirements, most items that qualify will be tech.

Sorry for the confusion, here's the correct list of item ids you can check. The list above was for 5/30-6/6. This is the one for 6/1-6/7.

Also fikse, the Daily Deal sales are based on event date, so that would qualify you for the Week 1 drawing. Nice work!

Huh? Nobody said anything about bestsellers.

eBay Daily Deals and Amazon Deals (in several different forms) are defiitely comparable. And not only can you do categories under Amazon's Best Deal, you can even go down to sub-categories.

eBay is still way behind the curve on Affiliate tools.

eBay is still way behind the curve on Affiliate tools.

Can you tell me how to feature one specific Amazon sellers listings? There's about a bazillion ways to do it on eBay but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to do such a simple thing on Amazon.

Thanks for the 120 by 240 I had the 120 by 600 posted in a very good spot that is known to get lots of clicks BUT I did not get many with the large banner. I think that the clicks will improve with a smaller daily deal. If you had a 120 by 600 daily deal with at least 3 items on it I think it would get more clicks.

You don't use Amazon much, do you?

Real quick, off the top of my head, you can set up an "a-Store" and only put in the listings you want. That's the easiest way.

I have customer-specific a-Stores for certain of my visitors because they've told me what they like and what they will order through my website from Amazon. In one case, I have a single page (with an a-Store embedded) dedicated to a certain vistor because they want to know only about certain products and where they are available, even if it's not from Amazon.

Or you can use the Associates Site Strip to link to any page on Amazon.

The wealth of tools available on Amazon makes eBay look like a second-class Associate site.

Shoot ... eBay still does not show Stores in the Editor Kit's search

So, yeah, eBay is still way behind the curve on Affiliate tools ... most definitely.

aStore don't do sellers (I'm not going to check a seller every day and delete and add items, that's absurd) and there's no content for your site....

Site Strip is a link, I don't want a link, I want items from a specific seller displayed on my site.

Don't think you can do it.

Site Strip is not just a link ... it is a link that allows you to link any page to your website. So, yes, you could put, for example, the Storefront page for a specific seller on your website ... or any other page they have. Anytime a customer clicks to the Storefront, they would automatically see any new or changed items.

"a-Stores" were originally designed for Store Sellers, so I am thinking there is a way to put a Store on it. I've never explored the use of it in the manner you are describing, so I will concede it may not be possible.

But ... you can't do it on eBay either ... unless you are talking about the API ... which you can use on Amazon, too.

I've tried and it's the same as above with Amazon ... I can get them to the Frontpage but they have to go from there on their own.

And, BTW, Amazon does not hide any products from potential customers like eBay does.

That alone makes eBay a second-class Affiliate site and puts Amazon way ahead in providing tools to its Affiliates.
