Has anyone else seen a drop in income after the 'Link Generator tool update

May 11, 2009 11:31 PM
I've seen a huge drop in income after the new 'Link Generator' tool update. Has anyone else seen the same?

Please don't tell me that like last time, when ebay left Commission Junction, that I'll have to replace every single affiliate link!

I was wondering the same thing. It seems like lots of people have seen a sudden steep decline in income, all around that same time. You can see it in some of the other recent topics.

So basically, ebay has stiffed it's affiliate again. Oh well, I think I'm done, I'll go onto amazon. in the all the years I have my sites up I've never had 1 problem with them!

I'm in the process of changing every single link from ebay to Amazon. I can't be bothered with an affiliate who sees fit to stiff their affiliates, and that's what looks like has happened.

is there any official word from ebay?

I really can't understand how some affiliates are having big problems this month while others aren't. For the record, my May earnings are on track to be my best ever since joining epn a year ago. I am not saying this to boast, but to confirm that not everyone is having problems with their links.

This is very odd. Did you guys try contacting customer service? If so, any response?

we had this type of discussion when ebay first set their program up. I still never recovered to the full amount I was earning from commission junction even with the huge amount of content on my sites.

It just seems odd that after they updated their programs functionality, that for many their incomes have dropped off the charts.

truth is, since they left commission junction, from day one ebay has been a pain in the rear for me. I've never even bother to post any issue to Amazon, becasue i've never had an issue with their affiliate program. but i'm going throught the process of changin my links, I'll keep the ebay links to prodcuts i can't find on Amazon of course.

The problem I now have is that the link generator appears to make all links US based, this is useless for me when I am based in the UK!
Sudden flatline.
Seems to be no response from ebay???

Looking at last year, as m_scarlett said, the exact same thing happened May of 2008 right after the first update and some complained of revenue loss from CJ to EPN after the program started up.

Could be coincidence, date related bugs, or just seasonal tides.
For it to happen after both May release dates seems odd.
eBay investigate the first time but I don't think they reported finding any problems.

It could very well be any of those things. But it seems odd to me that nobody from ePN has been on in days to answer any questions...not good for confidence and communication guys!

Sorry for multiple posts

the huge drop is since May 7th.
from May 1-6 the EPC is 6.54 (*)
from May 7-11 the EPC is 4.36
overall for May 1-11 the EPC is 5.46

April's EPC is 7.51

Now you tell me if the drop is huge

(*) EPC calculated with the old formula

Maybe the "link generator" tool is at the core of the problem. My EPC is down a little, but my overall clicks, winning bids and BINs are up where they should be, but I don't use any of the ePN provided tools except for the tracking pixel.

No kidding! Yep, I've seen a steady decrease since eBay implemented ePN from CJ. Yesterday, my commissions totaled .26 CENTS for the month of May. Over the past 24 hours, I've had over 100 specific hits to one links and no sales??

I just received an email stating that eBay has had reporting "issues" between May 6 & 7th. Well obviously they don't read these posts because I've had issues since this whole ePN thing started. As of yesterday, I am removing 90% of my affiliate links, products and any mention of eBay until they resolve these issues.

I have a feeling that eBay only wants the big fish and don't really care about the smaller affiliates! Maybe if more of us little guys stop promoting eBay, maybe they'll see the light!

Yea right! I'll keep dreaming!
