kicked from ebay for quality??

May 15, 2008 5:01 PM
I just received a letter from ebay stating that I am being booted for what they call quality reasons. I have pasted the letter below. I wasn't even aware the quality was bad? I know my links generate a lot of acrus including winning bids. I guess ebay wants more of an immediate return rather than waiting and seeing if the people turn out to be longterm members of ebay?

Is it possible to contact them and see what is going on? I have heard that communication is terrible.

Dear Partner,

Thank you for your participation in the eBay Partner Network.

After a thorough review of your account, our team has determined that your account has been generating traffic of low quality as gauged by our internal measures. We wanted to bring to your attention that our team has decided to terminate your account on May 21, 2008. We ask that you please remove you affiliate links within 7 days. You will not be compensated for any traffic associated with your account after that date. As stated in the eBay Partner Network agreement, all pending payments will be complete within 90 days. Please note, you are prohibited from rejoining the eBay Partner Network.

As stated in the ePN Network Agreement Section (L)(3)(i):

(3) Termination by ePN or an Advertiser
i. ePN may terminate this Agreement and your account, one of your websites, your use of a Promotional Method or your participation in a certain Program at any time for convenience in its sole discretion upon 7 days notice. An Advertiser may terminate your participation in its Program or your use of a Promotional Method at any time for convenience in its sole discretion upon 7 days notice.

Regards,

The eBay Partner Network Quality Team

ePN sent this administrative communication to you because you are registered on the eBay Partner Network. If you have any questions, please visit the eBay Advertiser Terms and Conditions, Network Agreement, ePN Code of Conduct, and ePN Privacy Policy.

"all pending payments will be complete within 90 days."
ebay will hold the money for 90days,what a pity.
In my opinion,Ebay should give the money to you this month.

This must be a blow to you if you're making a fair income from EPN. It just says "visit the eBay Advertiser Terms and Conditions, Network Agreement, ePN Code of Conduct, and ePN Privacy Policy." What happens if you click on the email's reply button? It would be interesting to know what they describe as generating traffic of low quality.

I am going to try and reply to them. It would be nice if they would work with you and fix problems instead of just sending little emails.

Anyone else get this letter?

FWIW
It's my understanding that this letter is sent to affiliates that click, bid and buy from their own website. Clicking is OK, but registering, bidding and buying is not. Not from your own website. IP's are tracked and so I guess they can tell.

I could be wrong, but I believe that's what they call "low" quality.

Its amazing how vague the email is. It seems like they are targeting high volume affiliates and just canning them without warning or explanation on how to fix whatever quality issue they seem to have found.

Another great example of eBay customer service skills.

If this was due to people clicking on their own links and if it were soemthing that violated their Terms of Use... I'm sure they would've immediately terminated the ePN account without giving you 7 days to remove your links.

Can someone from eBay explain here how they judge an account to not be sending quality traffic up to the ePN standard when the network has only been live for a little over a month? What kind of matrix are you using?

Also if someone is using a PPC network to send traffic why aren't you giving users the opportunity to correct the issue. For example if someone is using a PPC network they can simply switch to another PPC network or work on increasing conversion rates, increase targeting..etc..etc.

Well I can definitely say it wasn't due to me buying through my own links as I haven't bought anything on ebay in a long time. My account with ebay is also a lot older than my affiliate account.

I didn't even click my own links.

I replied to the email. It will be interesting to see if they even bother responding. It would be nice if one of the mods here could jump in and explain it? Why not work with affiliates instead of mass sending these letters? Most of us would work towards improving things if given the chance.

There are two sides to every story and you have only presented a partial of yours.

What is the web address so we can see the quality of the site?

How were you driving traffic to the site?

I find it hard to believe eBay is going to cancel an account just for the sake of cancelling it. If it was making them money, you must of done sometning to warrant it being cancelled.

Like I said, two sides to every story.

It's pretty obvious, he registered hoping to get rich off ACRU's and the sellers are filing NPB complaints. Good luck trying to get back on ePN.

ummm, ok,

the attackers have finally arrived :)

the site is a BANS site www.sharecamp.com and from banners on other sites of mine and rented space. None violate any TOS of ebay's.

Traffic is from link exchanges, PPC, and banners.

Ebay didn't send the email based on traffic or whatever. They sent the email, I am assuming, since they feel they are not getting the return they want. Since it has only been a short time (since april), you would think they would contact me and see how to improve it.

member050808:

I have been a member through cj for sometime. I made the transition when EPN first opened up. If the cancellation was due to NPB, then I assume the email would have said so and I would have heard before.

mrguyhp:

I posted the ENTIRE story. I posted here hoping ebay would supply their side as I don't understand it.

Regardless, they will do what they want I suppose.

Just a note,

I will wait for Ebay to reply (if they do). So will update if I hear anything in the 7 days.

sharecamp.com uses non-Rover links. Is that allowed?

You did not post the whole story.

You have now posted your site and from what I can see it's just a bans site with encrypted links.

If they decided to cancel your site because you have no content and all links, then a lot of other bans sites will fall by way side.

I can't see why they would of cancelled it. I've seen a lot worse looking sites.

But, they have the right to cancel a site for any reason and you agreed to it when you signed up.

From what I understand, getting them reinstated is a long shot.

Good luck.
