Trading API Issues?

Trading API Issues?

Hi All,

Anyone having issues with the Trading API this morning?

I have a couple of sites using the GetSearchResults call and

these are currently not returning results.

I have checked the token and it has not expired - the API Call

usage report is showing 31% fails but to me it looks more like

around 50%.

Reticent to delve deeper if it is an eBay issue.

Thanks

Steve

Ok - looks like the GetSearchResults call has been deprecated

and replaced in the Finding API. I am guessing that it has finally

been phased out?? Was anyone still using this call?

Guess it's going to be a busy weekend changing some scripts.

Thanks

Steve

I haven't used that call myself, but I remember seeing it on a list of calls to be deprecated at some point, after they launched the Finding API.

Yeah, doing a ton of last-minute re-coding is always a pain, but once you get it done it should last for a while. You'll also find that the Finding API calls are easier to make than the Trading API ones. You can use GET instead of POST, and no tokens needed. So, less ongoing maintenance, theoretically.

If you haven't come across it yet, the eBay Dev team has a migration guide for folks like you making the transition from GetSearchResults to findItemsAdvanced. Maybe that'll help take some of the sting out of it....

Hi Helios - thanks for the reply - appreciated!

I did spot the migration guide but thanks for posting the link

anyway. Am on with the changes over a couple of sites - my

own fault though as I should have kept up-to-date with the new developments. Unfortunately trying to diversify and not put too

many eggs in one basket can mean that you end with a lot

of baskets :-D

It can sometimes be the sites that you just set and run are the

ones that catch you out. One of the sites has been quite happily

running along for around six years so I guess an update is

about due ;)

Thanks

Steve

I have a site which has also stopped working due to the deprecation.

Unfortunately I am not a coder and need some help with recoding the site to include the new function. I am willing to pay although I do not have a huge budget to play with. If you are interested let me know by posting here.

Hey Mike:

Another good place to post your request for paid development projects is over at the eBay Developer X.com forums, Developer Talk.

Good luck.

Thanks for that Helios. I'll see how things go over there. Much appreciated.
