I checked with our party contact at the Rio and she says:

A great meeting location is the IBar. It is in the middle of the casino, the first thing you see walking in the front doors and near the front desk.

So there's a recommendation, for what it's worth, as to what might be a great place to meet up on Tuesday night for an informal Meet & Greet!

I am also bringing a non-eBay friend with me - trying to get her interested in eBay cause she is a great wheeler-dealer in garage sales. We would work as a team ~ I'll let her procure the items and I'll do the listings

As far as the informal meet & greet is concerned I would think we should KISS it. Keep It Simple. I would be willing to help organize it.

My thoughts would be that we should take the recommended location of the "IBar" and select a day & time (the bar opens at 4pm). Drinks and food purchases should be pay as you go. If we can get a count of how many are interested we might be able to reserve the needed number of tables. All we need would be a table that everyone can go to sign in and get a name badge (like the "Hello my name is...").

Then anyone interested in a gift bag exchange can sign in for that also. We can do that in two different ways - everyone that drops off a bag gets a ticket and we draw the tickets out and hand out the bags (my choice) or we just let everyone exchange amongst themselves (there were some complaints last year on this that people were taking things out of the bags in between exchanges - but most of the exchanges went very well and was fun)


I would think that the earlier the better in case anyone wanted to go to a show later that evening or had other plans. So my suggestion would be to hold the meet & greet on Tuesday 6/23 in the "IBar" at 5pm and do the gift bag exchange around 6:30pm and let the networking & socializing go on as long as everyone wants.Then those that have other plans can leave and those that want to stay there all night can.

Most taxi cabs have coupons in them. Also vegas.com is a great site. Don't forgot those 1/2 off booths to get last minute deals on tickets!
We'll be doing that.

Oh Anita, Somehow I missed reading your post about the Meet & Greet before I posted a minute ago.

If we're going to do the gift bag exchange, then I definitely like your idea of getting a ticket for it at the door when ya turn in your bag and then have someone hand them out or call folks up to pick a bag. (think that was your first choice also!?!)

BUT... many folks (myself included) aren't coming in to Vegas earlier in the week. Although my flight is scheduled to get there somewhere around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, the last thing I'm gonna want to do is rush down to a Meet and Greet before I've had a chance to check in, shower / refresh etc.

My guess is that other folks coming in on the 23rd (even later than I am arriving?) won't comfortably make an earlier time frame for the Meet & Greet.

You know I love ya girl! - but I have to vote for the Meet & Greet to be a bit later... 7 or 8.... or even 9 or 10.

Dottie - I would like it to be around 7-8pm also but I thought that getting the tables for everyone would be easier earlier in the night than later and better for anyone that had plans for after the meet & greet.

My vote would be for the IBAR at 7pm on Tuesday 6/23 and have the gift bag exchange done by getting a ticket and doing a drawing for the bags.

I vote for 8 - 10 pm giving exact times for gift exchange(taking a ticket at the door), networking and just plain ole fun. Then anyone needing to leave or arrive later knows what he or she may miss. Name tags and registration (sign-in) are a great idea. Just my humble thought.
