Rolling blackout=rolling exposure, Marty please look

Nov 1, 2009 6:09 PM
I've been watching my flamingo towel search everyday since stores went back into search. You can see the same results in the bin tab, for those that aren't in search.

Since there are relatively few (less than 200), it's pretty easy to see. Mine have the closeup pictures and are 10.29 each and there are about 12 or so of them. All were listed on same date.

After 2 wks, they are consistently moving from top of search to near bottom and back, with relatively few additions to the category. And it seems to be a pretty consistent placements-the items at the top on Thurs 2 wks ago were at the top this Thurs, etc., at the bottom on Sunday. This time of year is NOT a big selling time and only the Halloween one has sold recently, so there is little "history" on my items.

May I suggest that, because this is easy to see, that people look at it daily for a wk-and see if you see them same: rolling placement. In this search, obviously with so few items, the movement probably doesn't effect sales; but in a larger search that return 1000's of items, it could explain the rolling blackout/surge/dearth of sales.

42 results, none yours.

BIN tab you are position #1, 5, 9, +17 more in first 50.

to capture a screen:

with what you want on your screen, press the "Print Scrn" button (on my laptop it reads prt sc).

that will copy the screen onto the clipboard. open up your picture program, create a new image and paste (ctrl v). save as whatever, load to someplace you have online to store photos and then post url here.

I'm not in stores in core test.
Best match--
BIN--Your easter is #1, then you're 5,7,9.

Forgot to mention I'm in MI.

Tonight I'll be at my cottage, so I'll test there.

Odd thing about this test--even when I sign in with this ID--I'm in the test at my cottage location, but not here, so it is location that determines, not ID.

ending soonest is out of order,

Smorg, you've got your the search to ending soonest right? If you're still reading, change it to best match and try it-remember
we're trying to see the order of the listings and if that order changes. If we use anything but best match (as a group), people will get different results that we won't be able to compare.

Looks like so far Tex in Las Vegas is the only one with a different order today-would sure like to hear if others on west coast are seeing differently-who could we ask? Anyone know a reg or have a friend out there that could try?

No, it is Best Match.

If you look at the first list of items I gave you, at the top somewhere it states it is Best Match.

As I said, I did two different searches ... one without logging in was the first and the second was clearing my cache, logging in and then doing the same search.

Both were exactly the same order as the first list I showed you.

I must be on a weird server ?:|

Here is something even weirder (if that is possible) ...

When I logged out, you know how it gives you an Ad of items based on your Search (best deals or something like that)?

Well, the ONLY thing I searched for was Flamingo Towels ...

... and not a single Flamingo Towel was listed ... in fact, no Flamingo or Towel at all, period.

There was a bunch of stuff I did not even look at.

Just thought I would log back in and give you that additional piece of eBay glitchiness :^O

Would it be more effective to track the placement of a single, specific flamingo towel within the search?

To clarify. Still search Flamingo Towel but note the placement of a specific one like the Easter Bunny, Save or Palm Tree.
