As long as someone in the family is taking care of the pending orders and your item is being shipped why would you feel compelled to notify eBay about anything? Unless there is some problem with your widget, my advice would be to MYOB..sounds like the sellers family has enough problems on their plate right now.

>>>MYOB!
LOL, I must agree.

If you feel compelled to insert yourself into someone else's tragedy, why not send a nice card or some flowers?

$.02

That is worth at least 200 DOLLARS

I find it unbelievable that someone would even consider inserting themselves into such a situation without cause

My jaw dropped

MY mom passed away when I was 17 she ran a small doll newsletter from home. Now this was over 35 years ago so no computers.

I remember sitting there thinking now what the heck to do. Knew money had to be refunded, issues mailed, people notified. Anyway we figured it out but what I remember most to this day are the lovely cards and notes received from people who had dealt with my mom.

So I would send a card or email a small note, times have changed but not that much sometimes people are not even sure how to handle closing down shop and could use the offer of someone to contact with questions

Just brought back memories and bless the family suffering such an unexpected lost.

Empathy is the only thing that I would consider at this point for the family of the seller.

Anything else would be very rude and insensitive.

Ask yourself how you would feel if some stranger interfered in a family tragedy without your consent or knowledge.

Accept that you are getting your item graciously and allow this family to handle things in their own time without interference.

:O:O:O:O:O

:_|:_|:_|:_|:_|

X-(X-(X-(X-(

On Jan 15th my father got a "cancer free" diagnois from his last pet scan. Doctor said we'll see you in 6 months call if you have any problems. On Feb 20th we took him to St Louis over regurgetation issues. He had increased his eating and cut down on his J-tube feedings and we thought he was having stomach acid problems. They poked and prodded him and ran all kinds of tests and finally decided he had a blackage just under his J tube. They schedualed a surgery to remove it on Feb. 24th. They found large tumors and lot's of cancer. closed him up called us in and told us he had "weeks" to live. The night of the 24th I went to the hotel business center to manage my business by putting everything on vacation. It was then I discovered that 30fp's can't be put on vacation, and I had 500 running!... I now have about a dozen. I can't express the stress I was under... I put notes up in my store header and everything. We got dad home on Thursday night, he wanted to die at home. He did, He died Sunday AM March 1st with me by his side, where I belonged.

Let me tell you something, the last thing a family needs in a time like this is a heartless jerk trying to destroy a person's business and negging them because they were at a funeral instead of mailing a cheap widget. If the brave new future of ecommerce turns society into a bunch of heartless jerks then my vote is we go back to the way it was.

yeah... it's kinda like that.

Why would you want to notify eBay of anything? She's mailing your widget, which is what her mom would do, so what's the issue?

Why wouldn't it be permitted?

Also, you should count yourself as lucky that you're getting your item at all and that they've kept the lines of communication open and the items flowing.

There is nothing to report...enjoy your item and move on.

OP - The spirit of our customs is to let a family attend to the affairs of their dead. Trust they will do so with integrity toward you. The heart of our customs is to have compassion for those whose lives have been shattered. Send a note.

I think the issue is that the seller's child replied and although not stated the implication is that the child is a minor. Technically it is still the mother's account but even so I think the spirit of the matter (sending your package to you despite the family tragedy) carries more weight than the rules regarding minors on eBay.

As long as the store is being handled..........while they figure it out with all the other things they have to deal with...it really shouldn't be a problem. And I'm sure they could use whatever money they can take in still from her venture.
