While I've been an eBay buyer for many years, I'm new at selling. Yesterday I got the message below for a camcorder I am selling, which is not available Internationally: "Hello, I am really interested in your item and I need it right away because it will be a gift. Please email me the final price including shipping to Spain via FedEx 3 Days Express. For payment I prefer to use an escrow service that protects both buyer and seller against fraud. I will pay the shipping and escrow fees. If we agree on the price, we can start the escrow process today and you can have the money in a few days." The guy has been an eBay member for less than a week and has zero feedback, so this set off alarm bells. I responded that even though the listing is not for International, the best I could do was UPS after the funds has been verified by PayPal. He responded back with a private email outside of eBay: "I'm very glad that the item is still available! First of all I want to apologize for my english. I decided to buy your item so please tell me if it`s necesarry to bid on it. Like I said you in my first email I want you to ship it via FedEx International Priority (3 days or so) because I need it fast. The shipping address is : [deleted by poster] Because I want to be safe for both of us we will close this deal using www.esafe-holdings.com A very trustable and professional escrow service. This service will protect both of us. Please go to Esafe-Holdings website and open a new account with them. Then INITIATE the transaction and please include the ebay item# on the description. I'm already a member and I'm waiting for you to start the transaction. For inspection period I think 1 day (from the day I receive the package) it`s enough. When you start it please put shipping insurance on the step 2 because I want them to insure the package too, I`ll pay. After you will start the transaction you will see that I'm a serious person and I have closed 8 positive transactions through them." Pretty obviously a scam, yes?
