This has been posted repeatedly by pinks in regards to what will factor into the cost for the return postage label:
"the shipping carrier, service and cost will be determined as part of the return process (taking item weight, dimensions and value into account)."
Will the item itself be factored in as well? For example, items that qualify for media mail - will a Media Mail label be generated for the return? And if not, will a seller have a process to dispute a charge applied if eBay chose an unnecessarily expensive method of returning an item (eg, an 8 pound book, originally sent Media Mail, being returned via Priority Mail).
Also, I have seen this posted by a pink:
"We've partnered closely with the USPS to handle discrepencies in shipping weight due to new Returns packaging. If you use eBay shipping labels, the post office will honor that weight in the return shipment.
In any return scenario where a label is provided, the USPS will not request additional postage due or return the item to buyer for lack of postage."
Can anyone confirm that USPS really has stated that they will eat any miscalculations on eBay's part? It just seems pretty strange to me that the USPS would absorb any errors that eBay's automation makes.
