Why do sellers attack the people who come here asking about feedback?

Nov 20, 2009 5:38 AM
Whats with all the hostility? From reading a lot the responses to buyers here, it's pretty obvious that to a lot of sellers leaving feedback for buyers is bogus. It's a waste of time, pointless to the nth degree. It's voluntary, many say, I don't have to do it.

So is it okay with you if I elect to not leave you positive feedback? Even when you have gone out of your way to list properly, present honestly and have done the work that needed to be done to make a positive outcome occur?
I get my stuff, I leave a glowing report, and then the seller just disses me by not leaving a feedback. So then I come here and ask how come, and get attacked?

How can a seller say "If I dont have the option to say something negative, then I'm not saying anything at all", and still expect to have buyers leave them positives to help them be considered honest sellers?

Why have some sellers turned buyers into the whipping boy for ebays feedback policies?

Why does a poster come here starting a thread with the obvious intent of causing controversy and stirring the pot?

Mysteries about every where.

Someone pass me an explanation and a tanq on the rocks please.

And if you truly feel "dissed" for not receiving return feedback - perhaps online shopping just isn't for you.

Since feedback is voluntary your choice is your choice. And mine is mine. Personally, as a buyer, I feel if I'm going to use feedback in order to choose my sellers I ought to leave feedback for other buyers to use. The feedback a buyer leaves is for other buyers.

IMO, fb is bogus. Especially any fb I get on this account, as a buyer, becuase I can only get a positive and my 100% fb looks no different than a buyer that is dishonest.

I have no problem with buyers or sellers opting out of leaving fb for me. I respect their choice of not participating in a voluntary option.

You will find that most sellers do leave fb. Check thier profiles and you can tell if the leave fb in batches when they have time. Many high volume sellers do leave fb in batches. They, just as buyers, have a full 60 days after the transaction to leave fb..

If you, as a buyer opt out of leaving fb, it is no different than the many buyers that already have opted out. If you sold, you would soon learn that more buyers than sellers do not return fb.

If a seller has a not so positive experience with a buyer, why should they leave a positive comment? If they can't leave a honest fb, they should have the option to leave no fb.

Not every buyer makes a transaction a positive experience any more than every seller makes the transaction a positive experience.

This is not an attack, by the way, it is my opinion.

There are only a couple of posters who "attack" buyers that come here upset about not receiving return feedback.

The majority of posters here try to educate the buyer about the process.

Your post is "attacking" all sellers here.

Kind of a pot meet kettle don't ya think?

Because I came here today to try to get an answer about feedback, and all I read are kind of knee jerk responses by sellers attacking buyers for even asking whats up!

Maybe the buyers who are searching for answers about feedback would look elsewhere if they knew this is really the "angry at ebay for not letting us leave negatives for buyers" board"

That’s what selling is. My thanks is $$, not colored donuts.

How can a seller say "If I dont have the option to say something negative, then I'm not saying anything at all", and still expect to have buyers leave them positives to help them be considered honest sellers?

A good way to answer that question would be to SELL for a year or so.

BTW, I leave fb once it has been left for me, and as a buyer I leave it after receiving my item. I don't "expect" it from either side.

Just read a few of the 128 pages of posts. That’ll give you an idea of what to expect. It will also probably answer most of your questions. Easy peasy.

But then, that’s not what this thread is about, is it? This is just a little seller bashing.

Knee jerk responses do happen here.

They usually happen in reaction to knee jerk threads;)

Don't be surprised that this thread turns into a circus - because you started it with your attack to the board. But I doubt you'll see it that way.

Shrug.

I'm out.

Re: Why do sellers attack the people who come here asking about feedback?

Because the Ebay Policies discriminate against sellers. Ebay claims they want an accurate feedback setup, but they refuse to allow this. They won't allow sellers to tell when a buyer does not pay, or tries to extort money, or takes a month to pay. Sellers may only leave positive feedbacks, or none at all. With a policy like this, it's not surprising that sellers don't leave any feedback at all. And when sellers bend over to give the buyer what he wants, they can still leave negative feedback, and the seller has no recourse. To see a buyer with 100% feedback is a joke anymore, when there is nothing but positives allowed. It is not accurate or fair, and every quality member of Ebay, buyer or seller, should be offended that Ebay allows this

First of all, I'm offended that you are laying this on sellers.

Is it fair to lump all buyers in with the ones that are extorting and using the feedback situation to their financial benefit? I don't think it is, no more than it is fair to lump all sellers in the same catagory because a few boardies take it too far.

You should change the term to boardies.
