People selling free samples of skincare & cosmetics

Anyone else notice people are charging a lot of $$$$ for free samples you get at dept. stores and not saying in the descriptions that they are selling samples you get for free at most make up counters? I've found so many misrepresentations in photos and no mention of free samples that perhaps if more people get hooked into this ebay should step in?

Sigh.
As I alluded to in my post, and as I believe that question proves, many buyers don't read the description!
If I'm reading your post correctly, you didn't carefully read my post.
I stated the following:
Buyers are getting a great deal; buying a 1/2 oz. tube of cream for $10 is a heck of a lot less expensive than paying $100 for a 1.7 oz. jar of the same cream at the retail price.
A 1.7 oz. jar of cream for $100 is worth $58.82 per ounce, making my 1/2 oz. tubes worth $29.41.
Paying $10 for $29.41 worth of cream is a great deal.
If I misunderstood your question, and you weren't asking, in essence, what cream that's worth $100 do I sell for $10, then I apologize for my misunderstanding. Guilty of spreading malicious truths.

Yes, I have noticed also. Some do but in the small print at the end of description page. Has anyone noticed the prices for Neova brand skincare?! You can get it from their official website cheaper. Also selling this product's 2 oz. size at 8 oz. prices. I have quit buying skincare on eBay because of this. Ebay used to mean deals.

I don't have any problem with people selling samples. No everyone has access to a high end department store, so they can't necessarily get these things at the cosmetic counter.

Yes, Seller are charging / selling Sample or Tester which is marked as " Not for Sale ". No problem at all. Seller buy it through legal business transaction from Distributors. Ebay hands down. Nothing is Free to seller. They buy gift sets ( parts are marked as not for individual sale ) Tester not for sale. Still seller paid for all items on his/her Invoice. And eventually they sell it for profit. Nothing wrong. Buyer has to read and understand the details of item, ask Qs to sellers. READ...READ...ASK...ASK.....PLEASE. On behalf of Samples and Tester Seller!

I would also like to add one thing. The economy ,invariably, plays into this issue. Many women/men would like to purchase many of those manufacturers products, but it would cost them a small fortune to buy everything they want. Sample sizes fit the bill for those people also. I appreciate these sellers. I go out of town every so often, and I stuff all the sample size stuff into my duffle/suitcase. The less weight the better. I keep my full size products for home use.

OP,
I sell these so-called "free" samples, along with other cosmetics items.
In all of my listings for those, I state they're "GWP" (gift with purchase) items. I also state the size (product weight AND package size) and have a picture of each item. In addition, I state the item has "Not for individual sale" written on it.
Invariably, some nimnul will complain because the item is not full-size.
Like the comedian says, "You can't fix stupid."
All of my items are new. Buyers are getting a great deal; buying a 1/2 oz. tube of cream for $10 is a heck of a lot less expensive than paying $100 for a 1.7 oz. jar of the same cream at the retail price.
On my last order to my distributor, I paid more than $12,000 for over a thousand sets of these items.
Pray tell, where can I find these items, for these quantities, for free?! I'd love to know -- it would certainly cut down on my overhead!
PS: Under the "First Sale" doctrine, I can sell these with impunity, so those of you who are offended by those listings can get your mouse off the "Report" button when you see one of these egregious items. Guilty of spreading malicious truths.

OP, are you referring to the "GWP" size items, like Clinique, Estee Lauder, etc? Most bidders, like myself, enjoy buying the smaller sizes to test the items before taking the big plunge into a full size item. I also like smaller items to put in my purse, so it won't weigh it down so much, traveling, etc. I just would like these sellers to CLEARLY STATE whether it's a sample size/GWP size or not. Nothing wrong to me with what these sellers are doing. The buying market obviously demands it on ebay.

If sellers do their research and see buyers are willing to pay for samples/lots, then the sellers will list the item at the price. Not the sellers fault, again, the buyer sets the price. As a buyer, it is important to do your homework. Check the weight... if still in doubt, email the seller thru the Ask a Seller link in the listing and simple ask what the size is... and/or if it's a sample. And, look at feedback. I am disappointed in eBay's lack of enforcing their own policy. Used cosmetics is a huge deal on eBay... listings can be reported, but eBay does nothing. Such a shame.

There are just too many fakes out there for ebay to deal with, let alone bothering with samples. They tend to go after high value fakes (rolex, LV etc) and especially if the company has good lawyers
All know the way, but few follow it.

Since ebay does almost nothing regarding the fake and counterfeit cosmetics I wouldn't hold my breath. Just make sure before you buy you check the feedback of the seller and ask questions. Some buyers will pay for samples and don't mind.

Just because an item is sample size does not mean it did not come in a kit containing all sample sizes that we actual paid for. Estee lauder products is the perfect example, I have a few kits I paid for with a bunch of sample that say not for indivisual sale was gonna break it down but choose not to. I don't think ebay should step in. But if you can't beat them join them just do it the right way.
