I can't help you with any information, but I think you should post it on the collectibles board also. There are a lot of people who gather there who might be able to point you in the right direction. This board can be kind of slow at times.;)

Hi. I have a similar kit (with the book) and it was made in 1950.

The Timber Engineering Company is now known as TECO, and the name is synonymous with metal truss connectors and joist hangers.

see

Link

for general company information.

1950 is a reasonable approximate date.

Do you have the species key, a booklet that came with the kit?

Similar kits of hardwoods, softwoods, veneers, or tropical woods were offered by many companies in the past, and many are still available today.

Yes, I have the species key - it's part of the booklet prepared by the Research Laboratory by the Timber Engineering Company.

anne-stuff,

I just acquired the same TECO wood study kit but am missing the species key (preferably the whole booklet). Would you be willing to make a copy? I will defray reasonable expenses.

Thank you,
Jim
