See the escrow board or the thread on this board titled escrow, which refers to the same trick.

PS

Report the buyer's ID to ebay for false contact info, and attempted fraud and claim your fees back.

I have just recently been contacted by someone who wanted me to send a piece of jewelry to Spain using the escrow service
"esafe-holdings" and wanted to close outside of EBAY. He expresses a sense of urgency as it is "a gift". I told him we would complete the transaction thru EBAY only. I have yet to hear back, but will comment further if I do.

Here is a copy of the original message:

Hello,

I am really intrested in your item and I need it right away because it will
be a gift. Please email me the final price including shipping to Spain via
FedEx 3 Days Express. For payment I prefer to use an escrow service that
protects both buyer and seller against fraud. I will pay the shipping and
escrow fees. If we agree on the price, we can start the escrow process today
and you can have the money in a few days.

Thanks,
Fabian

And a copy of the message to my personal email:

HI ,

I'm very glad that the item is still available!
First of all I want to apologize for my english and for
my late answer, I was out of town because my mom was sick.
I decided to buy your item so please tell me if it`s
necesarry to bid on it.
Like I said you in my first email I want you to ship it
via FedEx International Priority (3 days or so) because
I need it fast.
Because I want to be safe for both of us
we will close this deal using www.esafe-holdings.com
A very trustable and professional escrow service.
This service will protect both of us.Please go to
Esafe-Holdings website and open a new account with them.
Then INITIATE the transaction and please include the ebay
item# on the description.
I'm already a member and I'm waiting for you to start
the transactreion. For inspection period I think 2 days
(from the day I receive the package) it`s enough.
When you start it please put shipping insurance on the step 2
because I want them to insure the package too, I`ll pay.
After you will start the transaction you will see that
I'm a serious person and I have closed 8 positive
transactions through them.

Best Regards,
Fabian

Just to let other sellers know, he's on the prowl apparently. I just got the exact same email from Fabian. . actually both emails, word for word. . wanting to purchase a bike I have listed for $1800. When I told him no, he said he didn't have a paypal account because he got ripped off a laptop and $2000. Luckily, he didn't BIN before asking if I could ship it to him so I don't have to worry about the fees being refunded back to me.

I wish I would have seen these messages about a week ago. I believe I have been scammed through this exact guy with the esafe holdings website. I have opened up a so called "support ticket" through their website, and have gotten no replies. If anyone has information on how to go about reporting this guys ebay unsername.... please let me know.
