suggestions to eBay on improving int'l trading

Oct 30, 2007 4:50 PM
All in all why should i pay for listing fees, insertion fees when the auction can not be found with normal key search word that works?

i know that several times my item in the catogory is the highest price. I search now highest price + shipping i can NOT find it....

I could before when i pressed : highest price...

Its impossible to find your action, because the system with inserting the shipping fees are to hard to understand.

OLD EBAY WORKED..
SIMPLIFY EBAY!!!!!

Evonthis, this thread celebrated its third birthday at the beginning of the month. To paraphrase Cheech and Chong, "Tim's not here, man."

suggestions to eBay on improving int'l trading

I am losing out on international sales because ebay keeps changing my listings from Worldwide to United States. I fixed a bunch of listings this morning and ebay changed most of them back again. I cannot change the ones that have bids already. I am losing money and time and it is extremely frustrating. I have been selling for about 5 years, so I am not new to ebay. This is a new problem. They are causing me two other problems also, but this is the only one that pertains to international sales.

Extend both buyers and seller protection for international buyers, I recently purchase an item that never receive and PAYPAL or EBAY MOTOR do not offer Me protection against the fraudulent seller from USA,just because I'm as a buyer located outside USA.

suggestions to eBay on improving int'l trading

hi, I ship things from Morocco to worldwide but, i choose to send by airmail because is much less costly than Moroccan post office, the only thing the buyer will pick up the item from the international airport near by him!
for example $40 item 1 pound item will be shipped for another $40,
but by airmail will cost only the total with shipment $47 including the item.
is there is any other way to improve the shipment from other countries or having a special ebay shipment offices around the world?......

Tim,
I agree with everyone who claims you must educated new ebay sellers about selling outside of the United States. I really want to and I am so afraid after reading all these horror stories. Where do I go to read all the information I need to become knowlegable about this? Does calculated shipping apply to international selling?
With your fees increasing constantly it is getting harder and harder to make any money. It has become discouraging and I like being a part of the ebay family.I don't want to close up shop.
So if you have the answers or can tell me where I can read up about shipping outside of USA to attract new buyers please inform me. Thank you.

suggestions to eBay on improving int'l trading

Sell4you62, Tim started this thread back in October of 2004 and I seriously doubt that he's on eBay's payroll anymore. Sorry. However, I can advise you that very few good news stories show up on this board, just like the news rarely reports on airliners that reach their destinations safely, just the ones that crash.

If people did start threads posting their "good news" stories about international trading on this board, those threads would quickly crowd out the "horror stories".

Feel free to start a thread of your own with any specific questions you may have once you've tired of reading other threads. I think you'll find that international selling is a lot more straightforward than you may think. The keys for my wife and myself have been excellent communication with our buyers, flexibility, and a belief in Karma.

I work with a partner in Russia who sells mainly photo equipment all over the world. I have two suggestions specifically for PayPal:

- We need longer windows for buyers to file complaints. At least 60 days. Things have gotten better lately, but international air parcels from Russia used to take about two months. It's hard to advise buyers to be patient when they are up against a 45 day window to file a complaint! I realize that such slow shipping is problematic, but it is beyond our control. Private shipping is available from Russia, but it's far too expensive. Nobody wants to pay $50 for a camera and then spend $150 to have it shipped.

- PayPal now lets clients enter shipping addresses in Chinese and Japanese. That's wonderful until they buy something in another part of the world. I don't have these fonts installed. Even if I had them installed, I don't read those languages.

I don't need a translation, just transliteration so I can write a shipping label. Perhaps PayPal could hire a few bilingual staff who can transliterate addresses for those of us who are selling beyond our linguistic depth.

By the way, I'm no stick-in-the-mud when it comes to languages. I can read and write in seven including Hindi, Nepali and Russian. But there are about a hundred different writing systems in use around the world. Sorry, I'm just not up to that. The Roman alphabet is the most universal one we have, so PayPal should always provide addresses transliterated into Roman whenever buyers and sellers are in different countries.

oh, paypal is not very good for chinese. And we always pay more money to withdraw. USD 35, oh, it is expensive. Will it be cheaper?....

I agree with you on everything but the feedback. As a seller, I am at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to feedback. About 60% of my buyers don't bother to leave feedback regardless of whether I leave it or not. Where is my incentive to leave feedback? Also, many buyers don't understand that international parcels can take months. I currently have an "item not received" dispute with a New Zealand buyer. She filed it after 3 weeks. She seems pretty laid back about the whole thing, but of course PayPal is holding up the payment. I've got a question about your Customs in New Zealand for you. The item in question is perfume. The USPS website doesn't mention anything about perfume being prohibited for shipment to New Zealand. However, I read on the New Zealand Post website that perfume is a "dangerous item" and cannot be mailed. Is it possible that my parcel is being held in NZ Customs? I can't track it because I used a service that does not allow tracking although it has a US Customs number and bar code. Any insight into this problem would be helpful. Thanks from Texas.

Many buyers don't understand that international parcels can take months.

That may have been the case in the days when international shipping by surface mail was an option, but it's not the case now that USPS only offers varieties of air mail for international mail.

Most international shipments take about two weeks to reach their destination with the vast majority arriving within four weeks. It's only the rare one that might get caught up in a mail sorting room or in customs that's going to take "months" to get there.

I've got a question about your Customs in New Zealand for you. The item in question is perfume. The USPS website doesn't mention anything about perfume being prohibited for shipment to New Zealand.

Actually, it does, although it's not specific to New Zealand. See this page from the USPS website: Link

Is it possible that my parcel is being held in NZ Customs?

I think it's more likely that your package was destroyed before leaving the United States.
