Any of you Northerners know what brisket is??

Nov 6, 2009 11:33 AM
Man, our chamber of commerce had their annual brisket sale and lunch. I bought an already fat trimmed brisket that had been smoked cooked and then vacuum packed and for lunch they had brisket sammiches. The big brisket is going with me tomorrow to feed 5 college football players 2 of which are my sons after their game.

We are going to slice half of it and chop up the other half for BBQ and then have some buns and chips and ranch style beans and some Gatorade...............yummmmmm yummmmmm

I've heard that brisket may be a regional thing.......surely not. Ya'll have beef brisket in the North dontcha??

Helping myself to a bbq brisket sandwich and a side of beans.

Waffle House seems to always be one of those that is way better in your memory then in reality. LOL!

Brisket is everywhere but what isn't is the method of slow cooking or smoking it, that seems to be more a southern thing. Then again, anymore, not a lot is as regional as it used to be since when people travel they take their methods with them.

The best Philly steak sandwich I ever had was in Ketchican, Alaska. The shop owner was a transplant from PA and man could he throw down one mean sandwich.

I am in northern Michigan--and you mean corned beef brisket?--right?-- OH YEAH--we have it at least once a year, if not more~~~~ at ST.Patricks day when everything is all Irish--

I always make a corned beef brisket along with cabbage, onions, and potatoes--all slow-simmered in my crock-pot---and of course we all drink green beer to go along with it all at the party!

Lots of folks think corned beef when they think of brisket.

Slow is the key. In Texas you can buy a wide variety of "rubs". If I'm cooking it outside I prefer to smoke it with just a few seasonings but if I cook it in an oven I use Claude's brisket marinade...............FYI, BBQ in Texas is chopped brisket and NOT pork!!

Hey!

Best southern breakfast I can find around these parts.

I did try them a week or two ago for a lunch, and was a little disappointed. Not as much variety on that side of the menu as you'd expect, and no fries (hash browns with a chili burger?).

But if you want breakfast, even if it's ten o'clock at night, there's nothing better.
