How can I back out of an ebay sale?

Nov 16, 2009 11:49 AM
I purchased an item from ebay (using the buy now) and I always pay straight away using paypal. However the sellers paypal account had been frozen therefore I was unable to pay.
I emailled the seller to let him know and find out what was going on.
He had 100% feedback (buying only 0% selling) so I felt pretty safe to purchase from him. Now only a few days later, he has 75% feedback from 8 other members having the same problem. Although, unfortunately for some of them, their payments did go through.
I still have the item in my won list, and I am getting emails from ebay reminding me to pay for this item. But I don't want to go through this seller anymore, I do not trust that he has the goods therefore don't trust to send him my money.
I emailled ebay about this, but they never got back to me.
Someone please advise me as to what I can do next.

Yeah, I'd go through eBay and file the NPS (Non Performing Seller, or something like that). However, if he has other payment options in his listing, you may be on the hook.

After all, eBay does not require a seller to use PayPal, do they? (With all the rules changes, they may have, LOL).

I did read his feedback, he had 100% but it was purchasing feedback only, he had never sold anything before.

However the sellers paypal account had been frozen therefore I was unable to pay.
I ran into this once. The seller had bought on ebay for years but never sold. He thought he could just start selling and did not properly set up his paypal account to receive payments. He entered the wrong screen name on his paypal account. He wasnt trying to scam anyone just made a mistake. What he did was to contact all his buyers and asked them to transfer payment through paypal to his email. He stated "If you dont want to do that then just keep the item, its free, sorry I screwed up".

The seller could not "fix" the problem of payments not going through, he had to reopen a new sellers account with a new ID.
Dont know if that the case here but if it is the seller is stuck and can not fix his paypal problem. I would retract my bid.

Is seller NARU'd? I'm on my new lap top, and it is totally kicking my tail, trying to high light stuff, LOL. This pad thingy is HARD to get used to. I wonder if I can find a way to hook up a mouse, haha!

I agree with the idea posted by Gulf. Happened to me, when I sold under this name the first time. Is why I have a selling ID and PayPal, and a different set of acounts for buying.

DO NOT PAY THIS SELLER.

Ignore the item in my eBay. Don't file a NPS, you don't want the item anyway, not from this guy.

You've received a gift from the good luck gods, take it and run, run really, really fast.

Good lord...here is the feedback.

Thanks for that - I know, his feedback is SHOCKING!! That's all in the last couple of days too! I suspect there will be alot more also as according to his history in the auction, he sold approx 100 units.
I know that some people were able to pay via paypal (I've contacted a few who left -feedback) I am just ever so thankful that my payment could not go through.
Can I just ignore the item in my 'won' list?
Is there something specific that needs to be done, as I don't want this to affect my feedback/purchase history.
Thanks!
