Keeping good thoughts about the sale.  Hope one off duty cop will be enough.  I love to just hang out in the yard and watch it all happen.

Makes me laugh to see that at least a couple of your Barbie outfits are selling for more than my entire wardrobe is worth.  Shows how classy I am....not.  53881

I just said to Ron, this is crazy, about the Barbie things, it always makes me a little nervous..

Speaking of insane, words can not begin to describe yesterday, 200 people waiting to get in, huge piles of stuff, standing in the rain, waiting to be checked out, then it came to closing, folks sneaking back in, refusing to leave, we finally stopped being nice about it, neither was the cop..and I can't believe, I have another 3 days to go..ugh

Love the postal worker, who has 3 ducklings that come to work with him..53882 smailes at that one

53883 screams of frustration!  I had a long post, hit "post", and POOF, it was GONE!  In honor of things like that, I believe it's time to open the bottle of Jacquesse wine I bought today!  Google it for a look at the bottle and get a laugh.

SUZ- That is one(1) of the main reasons I haven't been able to post as often. My keyboard just don't type as fast as it used to.

Nothing really changed around here with us.

Had a tooth pulled, got the garden well on it's way, the raspberries are thick this year, in the last stages of refinancing, have new siding on the remaining buildings and did the last of the painting last Sunday.

Been spending the last few days emptying the wood storage shed and reorganizing it. Looking forward to kicking back this winter putting together a few wood projects I've wanted to build. New bird houses/feeders at the top of the list. I want to build them a "super-condo".....multiple stories high.

If nothing else it will drive the neiborhood kats krazy.

Hope all the best this summer.

Pat, you would have loved the potting shed on the property, scads of bunded cypress and other woods, the garden sounds great too. However all the other home improvements, you have done, make me realize, how far behind we are here, waves to the lovely Laura..

Suz, how is your Dad doing?

Day 4 of the sale, that won't end, and to tell the truth, I have had just about enough, these folks are just nuts..53884 moans and complaints..oy

You people make me feel like a lazy lump which aint far from the truth!

Pat, do you have plans for a purple martin nesting complex?  They are really cool and the birds are fantastic mosquito eaters. People around here build really big structures and it seem like they are always full in the spring.

Suz, I'll be so glad to here you have had the MRI and things are getting better.  Living pain as you do must be terrible.  So nice that you have family around to distract you.

Sarah, did you run out of Barbie outfits?  I was just getting ready for my second childhood and planning to included dolls this time.

Ha, if I did that, Frank would have me taken away in a straight jacket.

We are getting 53885 much needed rain drops.

No way, is Frank going to cart you off to the funny farm, Barbies or no..no, I still have Barbie stuff, just ran out of listing time...

Well, that was ONE big butt kicking, yesterday was every bit as bad as I thought it would be, think chumming the waters and the customers were the sharks, yep not pretty, they were crazy, cat was crazy, of course, it didn't help that one of our newer employees, set the house alarm off, cat was not there yet, but I had a key and alarm codes..

Going to the mall, hopefully before our rain comes in

Happy Sunday 53886

Suz, thought I had your email addy but guess not.  Just wondered if you were still in touch with Red.  What a mess things are there.

I guess both her hubby and son will be fighting the fires. If you hear from her, please let her know that all of them are in out thoughts!  53887 horrible fires it seem like.

53888 prayers requested.  My younger brother died today of a heat induced heart attack.  We'd been estranged for years, I hadn't seen him since Mom's funeral 2 years ago, but it still hurts.  Like I told someone tonight......I havent had a brother in many years, but I've always had hope.  Today, hope died.....the hope that he might set aside whatever wrongs he felt and agree to begin from today, as I had asked him to do many times.  He was actually living and working in my tiny town for the last several months, but never contacted our Dad, who was only 14 miles away.  He'd always said it was Mom who kept him away, "as long as SHE was around, he wasn't coming".....yet "she" had been gone 2 years last week and he still did not contact Dad.  When Dad was hospitalized with a stroke, his only question was "what is happening with Dad's guns", rather than "will Dad recover?".  So many mixed feelings....yet trying to stuff them all so I can be the calm collected ONE to do what needs done.

As to Red.....she is safe.  They evacuated to Steph's house in southern Colorado Springs, and all is well so far.  Her husband has been recovering from shoulder surgery a few months ago, so doubt any fire fighting for him.

Oh, speaking of surgery.....my MRI results are in and it appears I may need hip replacement surgery.  Another MRI this week and then consultation with the surgeon.  PLEASE GOD.....can this nightmare Monday please end SOON??????

Wow, Suz, I will say, you can take a punch, I really don't know where to begin, but, I am very sorry, that so much is coming at you at once. It sounds like you tried many times to make amendments with your brother, but I will say, (this is from experince), you can't change people and blood counts for very little, when it comes down to being a caring or not person..

As to the hip replacement, my MIL just had one done and said it was fairly easy to manage, even the physical therapy..please keep us updated..

How is Steph doing? and is she still in the military?

I hope you know, you are in our thoughts and we are pulling for you..

How can a person go thru 3 shop vacs in ONE morning?, well, I managed that feat, yesterday, as Ma's sunroom was flooding, hopefully this will be over in a couple of days..53889

Family dynamics just blow me away.  Frank's family, especially one member, thrives on chaos and likes nothing better than to keep stuff stirred up.  I'm so sorry that you and your brother won't have the chance to make things right.

I'm with Sarah on the hip surgery.  It is amazing  how far it has come in the past few years.  My MIL had both hips replaced but with a span of several years between them.  Her recovery time was much shorter the second time even though she was heavier and older.

Hope you haven't run out of shop vacuums yet Sarah.  Looks like you will still need them for a while.  I would love to share some heat and sunshine with you!  53890

Suz, I forgot to thank you for letting us know about Red.  So glad she is okay and only hope the house is too!  I think of her every time I hear the word "fruitcake."  And that's not because of being as nutty as one either. :^O  53891 good wishes for all those dealing with fires and floods,

Whew, the worst of the weather is over and now we have bands of wind, after this rain event, I am not going to complain about the wind...got Ma's floors cleaned up and the shop vac put away..

I was thinking about Suz, and one of the dealers, that shops the cat's sales, I sold his alligator postcard collection, he has had both hips replaced and the amount of pain, he was in before the surgeries, was unbelievable, so I hope this will offer some relief..

Time to get back to work..53891

I see Barbie has made a return engagement! I'm watching for a stained t-shirt and jeans with a hole in the knees.  Add a pair of ugly flip flops and she's wearing my outfit.

Hope Red and family are all safe.  Frank's nephew in Colorado Springs is just sitting on pins and needles at this point.  53892 areas of icky wether.

53893 thank yous for the thoughts and prayers.  My brother's service will be Saturday afternoon.  He's being cremated, so there was no time factor, and this will give my sister in Missouri a chance to get her paycheck so she has money to get here.  She was just here for Father's Day, so had definitely not planned for another trip this soon.  They live paycheck to paycheck (don't most of us anymore) and with him being a self-employed electrician, it's even more so;  construction has slowed nearly to a halt down there, so his jobs are slim pickin's.  But, she'll be here, and that's what matters right now.  A happy "side-effect", it will be another chance to see my baby nephew Mason, who is just a living doll!

My bio-mom was here Tuesday, so she could see him before they sent him off for cremation.  She's having health issues herself, on top of asthma and diabetes, she just found out that part of her breathing issue is congestive heart failure.  The emotional stress of losing Kirby (his name was Richard, but he went by Kirby, which was his middle name) has just made her health even more difficult to deal with;  she decided she needed to be at home where she was comfortable.  Ann (the autistic woman she takes care of) has been picking up on Mom's stress and having behaviors of her own that she hasn't had in years (pounding her head on table, moaning, etc), so being home will be what's best for both.  I'm sure there will be some who think it's terrible that his own mother won't be here for the service, but they can bite me.  Afterall, he won't be here either!  LOL

Dad is handling things fairly well.  You can tell he's hurting because he's occasionally more bitchy than usual, but after the experience of losing Mom, I kind of know what to expect and just take it with a grain of salt.  Health-wise, he's doing ok too.  Shuffling more when we go somewhere, but in this heat, we all kind of drag one way or another!

As to Steph and Red, I don't know much more.  Not sure of Steph's military status, all I know is she bought a house in southern Co Springs a while back, and that is where they are now.

For the hip thing....I don't see the surgeon until September, so I'm kind of ignoring it for right now.  Too much other stress....I'm playing Scarlett on this one for now.

On Sunday after Mass, Dermot and I are running away for a couple days.  We're going to Topeka to see the boys and the rest of the family.  I used the Priceline "Name Your Own Price" for the first time ever, and actually ended up with our favorite hotel there for $40 per night, instead of the $89 we usually pay!  With "Name Your Own Price" you don't know which hotel you'll get (just the star rating and area of town) until after you've paid, so this was an awesome surprise.  We'll come back Tuesday, because Dermot has to work the 4th for part of the day.

Well, time to see if this "book" will post!

Well, if anyone deserves some time away, it is the 2 of you, as for the rest of your stress factor, all I can say is a day at a time, trite, I know, but frankly, I don't know any other way..

Really confused, (yes, I know, it is my normal state), my sale, has become a cat sale, that, I think, I am supposed to run..huh..and I only have 4 days to get it ready..

The worst of damage by the flooding, several homes destroyed and roads as well, for me it was the 50% lose of the turtle nests..of course now we have heat going into the 90's, so I need to start in Ma's yard, so will give it a couple of hours in the mornings..

As much as I hate to admit it, I will be actively searching for vintage Barbie lots..53894 shakes of the head

Re: ONE (1)

Suz, you and Dermot have more than earned some private together time.  Enjoy every minute of it.  Hope they have a pool because I know what a water lover you are!

The turtle nests made me sad too.  I read that people in the area of Mexico we love are collecting eggs and the amazing aquarium if hatching them for release later.  Last year they were able to release almost 500 baby hatchlings.  They do the releases at local hotels so the tourists get a sense of how important it is to save the turtles.  Very cool idea.

Too hot to do much of anything.  if it can't be done inside the houise, count me out for now.  I watr some flowers and scurry back inside in no time flat.  53895  hopes that Red and family cn return to their home...

I can't imagine living with a fire threat, I hope Red and family are safe..

I know what you mean about, the heat, it is almost breath stealing down here, a couple of hours in Ma's yard, just about did me in, but, it will just be a couple of hours here and there..

Meeting the cat this morning to go over to her/my house, yep, still confused and then will start it tomorrow, for a Friday/Saturday sale..53896 other things, I would rather be doing

It is turtle nesting time here too.  Had a pretty large painted turtle in the yard.  Must have already done her thing when we saw her because she was heading back to the pond.  Like almost everything this year, nesting is about three weeks earlier than usual.

Went to a cousin of Franks after the memorial service yesterday.

All I'll  say is that the beer flowed in a steady stream for several hours.  And we took all the back roads home! 53897 days before I do that again,,,,ha.

Toasting is good, I remember going to a wake in Scotland, 53898 cups of tea, with shots of whiskey and of course, many fore fitted the cup of tea..

The cat is sending me around the bend, the mostly empty house is now full, with another consigner expected and rumor has it, I have to do the books..gggrrrrrr, going to try and get the garage priced out, before it gets to hot..

Hope Suz and Dermont are having a good time, when cruise time comes, I may not move off the chair, with the vino and my books..

Good Morning and Happy Firecracker Day to all.  We just wraped up all the outside chores so now we can relax inside.  The hum of the AC is playing our song again!

Hope you finish up the sale and can take a break for a bit.

I'm craving a huge banana split with hot fudge sauce.   Nope, 53900 percent sure I'm not preggers either.

Re: ONE (1)
Jul 5, 2012 09:12 PM

53901 more hours of vacation needed.  My bio-mom ended up in the hospital with congestive heart failure when she got home.  She went in on Thursday, supposedly for "tests and observation", was supposed to get out Friday.....we ended up getting her home on Tuesday, the day we came home from Topeka.  So, much of the "vacation" was spent at the hospital with her.  The doc said he thinks she has what is called "broken heart syndrome" which is brought on by either physical stress or emotional stress, and actually does damage to the heart.  Luckily, it is usually temporary, if treated appropriately, so hopefully she'll do well and be on her feet again soon.

I think I'll hide in Sarah's luggage for that cruise!

Suz, I truely don't know what to say...I hope she will feel better soon..if you can put up with Ma, you are welcome..

53902 items unpacked outside of the garage, I won't bore you with whining about the heat, but all is set and I need to leave soon, to meet the cop, I am not as nervous as I thought, to run a cat sale, hopefully no major screw ups..

Man, now I want some of that soft serve, banana splits were my down fall, when I was carring Kristen..
