Welcome to the "New" Boards!
Feb 10, 2005 06:13 AM
Hello everyone!

Welcome to the redesigned boards! In addition to a new look, there are some
great new tools:

* The ability to search across all boards at once with an "Advanced Search" feature.
* New icons so you can tell at a glance whether a topic is prioritized or locked
* New "smiley" icons
* The ability to "watch" discussions and be emailed when they update
* The ability to save a signature file under "Settings" that will automatically appear with your posts

We would like to discuss any questions that you may have concerning these changes. Please join eBay Staff Tuesday, February 15th at 11:00 PST for the Community Hub Page Redesign workshop here:
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=410457624&tstart=0

In the meantime, please feel free to leave your comments here so that we can have a better idea of the things you'll want to ask in the workshop on Tuesday. :)

Thank you!

lol@orange and military time!

These "new" boards are giving me a migraine! :_|

First the lettering was so small you needed a magnifying glass to read. Then the "invalid" user IDs. This morning, the page shrank down to about 15 threads. UGH!

I think i'll start drinking now! :-p;)

And the paragraph spacing is gone. Everything posts in one big block, even when I insert <br>. The Edit button comes & goes -- not that it matters, as it doesn't let you edit anything, anyway. It does look like we have more than 15 threads per page now, though.

If you're keeping a wish list, Claire, I'd love to see the old Preview format return. This new one, with the pop-up window that doesn't give a real view of what the post actually looks like (with links, html, images, spacing, etc. exactly as and where they'll appear) is not very helpful.

And if we don't get the paragraph formatting back, I'll go nuts.

Well, that took 3 lines of <br> to get a space!

The background on my settings is now aqua.

The font and type is large and easy to read.

I have regular time, not military time.

They seem to have fixed the problem with the spacing.

It seems like they are trying to get it back to where it was yesterday and improve on those few things to make the board a bit better.

Thanks!

The formatting is still messed up, though. I have to add html to force a paragraph break, and all my previous posts, even ones that had html to center them, are messed up.

Please, please fix the formatting. Posts with a lot of text are just one huge long run-on block of words. Some people have learned to add the <P> now, but older posts (which looked fine the day they were posted) look a mess.

Also, please have the Preview button actually PREVIEW to post -- you know, show us what the post will ACTUALLY look like. Right now, we get a pop-up that looks even worse than the typing window. The graphics are all over the place, and the HTML isn't even converted, so we can't see if we've left a tag out or something.

Or just toss the Preview function. It's worthless as it is right now, IMO.

As I recollect (being an occasional poster) the old posts could be formatted with paragraphs for easier reading. Everything runs together now which is not an improvement. Thanks.

Hey shostakovichfan, Dude, you really ought to get some broadband. The pages load fast. It's great. Unless you're on one of those community, crappy, shared server...things, where it gets slower as more people log on. If that's the case, then let's face it, Your'e screwed. Slow. Slower. Slowest. Slowester. Slowerester. Slowerestester. TeeHeeHee

Dang these board glitches! Why didn't the rest of my post appear? X-(

Anyway, I'm on Verizon DSL, and it's quite fast for nearly everything on the web except eBay. And by "slow," I mean "any page that isn't done loading after 2 seconds." I'm the impatient type. ;)

To form paragraphs in your post, add a < br >< br > (without the spaces) to get another paragraph......until they get this durn thang working again!

Just consider me an enabler. ;) Gawd, I'd come type in everyone's post myself if I could. Reading all the run-on "paragraphs" is like following the stream-of-thought ramblings of someone on a great "trip."

Hi I'm not sure if I'm in the right discussion board of not if I'm not please let me know which one I need to be in. I just purchased two items on here last night and was wondering does the seller have to get in touch with me before they ship the items. I have not heard from either seller and would really like to know when the items are going to be shipped and how I can track the items. Please if someone would help me thank you

Right board, I suppose, but wrong thread. On the bright side, looks like we don't have to <p> in our posts any more.

Well, I look at it this way....

Kirara, you will get more answers if you start your own discussion (thread) with your question. But to answer you, no, the sellers don't have to contact you. Some do, some don't. Irritates me when they don't.
Ebay suggests 3 days for contact from either party. You just won the items, so don't worry yet. Give it a few days, if you don't hear from them by...say Monday, email them and ask if the items have been shipped.
I say Monday, because not all people have computer access on weekends, and they are kinda considered 'days off'.
