Does anyone know whether lobby cards (11"x14") are ever copied and sold as reproductions (or as originals, perhaps :))?  I've seen prints of half-sheets and one-sheets and various other sizes sold here in the Reproductions category, but not of lobby cards to my knowledge.  The reason I ask is that occasionally I pick up (not necessarily from eBay) a set of 8 lobby cards from the 40s or 50s that look like they just rolled off the press, i.e., almost too good to be true for their age of 60–70 years.  Is there any possibility that they're actually reproductions masquerading as originals, or is it more likely that they've just been kept under cover and well protected since they were first printed?  (I've never bought any posters that didn't claim to be original.)

The simple answer is absolutely YES, Lobby Cards are reprinted/reproduced.  When we buy a large lot of items we go through them and it is rare, but we have found several from INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN.  However, when compared with the originals they do have some fairly obvious copyright imprinting and 'minty-white' paper - as the saying goes.  It is certainly possible for LC Set's to appear almost too good to be true.  We are currently selling an amazing collection of original and many absolute MINT Title and Lobby cards from some of the best Film Noir titles.  Still, even those that are Mint bear the proper paper textures and an impression of age that does not make them any less Mint, simply NOS if that can be said about Title & Lobby Cards.  I would always compare images online from known Lobby Cards that are authentic and look closely at the bottom copyright & NSS information before buying anything that appears too good to be true.  And it might make sense that anyone reproducing a Lobby Card Set would only go to the trouble for the more valuable sets, otherwise I hardly think it would be worth their time.  Hope this info helps.

Very helpful reply, thank you.

In regard to "look closely at the bottom copyright and NSS information", what would I be looking for?  Wouldn't that information be the same as on the genuine original?  Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

Thanks for the links.
