Ultimate Silver Screen Trivia # 3
May 16, 2004 05:25 PM
The original USST lasted three years on the Soapbox Board until Liveworld accidentally killed it. It is to be hoped that people would answer by way of memory rather than by googling. Kindly post questions when you answer.

1. Who played the Amazing Doctor Clitterhouse?

2. Who was the It girl?

3. Who wrote the music for Dr. Zhivago?

Nope to number one but the second sounds like Christopher Walken.

Name the director of the Walken flick and his other movie which has gone down in Hollywood history for its excesses.

#2/5 Don't forget the villains in Charade: Walter Matthau, James Coburn, George Kennedy and some other guy.

#2/6 The creepy guy in Miracle was Porter Hall, but the cast also included Gene Lockhart and William Frawley, as the judge and his political advisor. It was also Thelma Ritter's debut (I think she played an astonished Macy's customer), and one of the few roles for which she did not receive an AA nomination.

#3 The seven brothers were Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, Ephraim, Frank(-incense, there being no "f" names in the Bible, to his chagrin), and Russ Tamblyn's Gideon.

#6 In Grand Hotel, don't forget Lewis (Judge Hardy) Stone: "Nothing ever happens".

A tough one, I think: Insofar as I know there was only one picture featuring both Gish sisters NOT directed by Griffith. There is a hint below, if you want it.

Director Henry King, actors Ronald Colman and William Powell, filmed in Italy.

F. Scott Fitzgerald. :D #2/5 Don't forget the villains in Charade: Walter Matthau, James Coburn, George Kennedy and some other guy. "Some other guy" was Ned Glass. :) Who wrote the play "The Women"? Name the director, four stars, and one writer who contributed to the screenplay.
