Leave feedback after 60 days
Jun 4, 2012 07:25 PM
|
I've received an item after 60 days and I can't see it in my "awaiting feedback" list.
How can I leave feedback on those items?
If this is not possible, I suggest the extension of time because each item I buy takes aprox. 2 months to arrive.
Thanks.

Hi gspadari
It is not possible to leave feedback after 60 days.
You'll find a Suggestion Box on the Site Map, at the bottom of any eBay page. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Just curious -- where do you live that it takes 2 months for your purchases to arrive?

60 days is plenty. Sorry but it should NOT be extended.

The feedback timeframe SHOULD be extended, or at least there should be exceptions. The posters here are explaining why 60 days is NOT enough, because they live in foreign countries where it takes many weeks or months just to receive items, longer than the 60 day current timeframe. The current short time frame leaves foreign buyers open to scammers, because the buyers then can't file complaints after the timeframe has expired.
The problem is that many scams and problems with orders don't become apparent until either the item has arrived, or the necessary shipping time (in the case of these buyers, a longer time than the 60 day limit) has passed without the buyer receiving the item they ordered.

It used to be 90 days. Why they changed it to 60 I'll never know.

Maybe because eBay purchase protection only lasts for 45 days. I wouldn't buy anything that would take longer than that to reach me, and I'd still have at least 15 days to leave feedback.

I wanted to leave positive feedback for a seller but I can't, because the auction ended 60 days ago.
I only leave feedback when I receive the items, otherwise I could end up receiving less items than ordered, or items different to what was listed.
So I think it would be a good measure to extend the feedback time when an order is shipped to a country different to the seller's home country.

Sorry but that is too bad that you live so far away from the USA. 60 days is way too much time. I wish that they would make it 45 days.
Also , you live in a country where the majority of the mail carriers are crooks. Customs also takes a long time. So that is your problem and NO U.S. seller should be given negative feedback because your box didn't arrive. I have relatives in Argentina and almost none of the items that I send there (cards, gifts, post cards, etc.) arrive!
Brazil... that place has an even worse postal system. eBAY should NOT make it longer.

I disagree Ms.Rodriguez, I was scammed and received an item for far less value, not what I had paid for, and not what was in the description. By the time I finally received my refund and was ready to provide negative feedback so other people do not encounter the same scam (which many others have left negative feedback, however I hadn't noticed it at the time). 90 days is more than enough to leave feedback however 60 days is far too short -

While some of you may think 60 days time to leave feedback is more than adequate, when you have a problem with a purchase 60 days is not nearly enough time especially when the seller refuses to respond to your messages. I ran into that problem a few years ago. The seller claimed he had shipped the item but had not. Communication was at a standstill. I waited and waited. Finally he decided to ship the item after I opened a case. Then when the item, a lathe chuck, got here it was seriously defective, way out of tolerance and the wood storage case was busted up. That was I think on the 60th day but I had fortunately left feedback a few days before the 60 days limit was up, I left negative feedback, and the seller was miffed. I kept the defective Item, managed to get it in spec and finally repaired the last of the damage to the wood case, just recently. Cost me a lot of time and agony. I am OK with the item now but the memory lingers on. I have to say 90 days would be much more appropriate. I had to purchase another, different item, two times, from the same seller but I had someone else do it for me because I figured the seller was still miffed at me due to the negative feedback I had left him. Those purchases did turn out OK though. Now, I need to purchase more of the same item but I am very reluctant to do so. The seller is no longer a registered user on eBay and has now set up his own website under a different name. I was not the only one complaining. eBay must have finally wised up. I also purchased a copy of Windows XP on eBay which turned out to be counterfeit. It looked official. Didn't need it right away. When I installed it Microsoft disabled it and claimed it to be pirated. Sure enough, after I examined the disk closely I could see it was not the real thing. Too late to complain. I am stuck with that one but I did finally find a way around Microsoft's Windows Genuine Advantage thing. They wanted me to pay another $100 for a Product Key and I was to use the counterfeit disk. Sorry, no sale. So eBay purchases, while I have also had good ones, do not always work out as expected. It is about a 50/50 thing. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But, where else can you shop for things that are no longer available new, right from your home? I have had some good results on CraigsList recently. I do wish eBay would quit using me as their guinea pig beta tester. It is very time consuming and frustrating to the Nth degree. We should get 50 percent off all of our purchases for doing their work, their debugging, especially when they have totally deaf ears. Yes, I am very miffed by what has been going on recently. I do not know how much more of it I can tolerate. It's 4:30 in the morning and I am out of here.

60 days is definitely not enough in some cases. Why it is not a 90 days?
I have encountered some postal problems with one order, and 60 are passed. Now I want to leave a positive feedback, but can't do that.

I don't believe it was ever 90 days - at least not for 10 years or more. And if it was, then it was back in the day when you could leave feedback that wasn't tied to a transaction. If somebody posted a message on a board, you could leave feedback ...
I think it more likely that it was 30 days and was increased to 60 days. I remember when My eBay only went back 30 days and people would wait till the last minute to leave feedback so the recipient couldn't retaliate. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

The timeframe for leaving feedback was shortened from 90 days to 60 in May 2008, during the wave of policy changes that also eliminated a seller's option to leave neutral or negative feedback.. Before that change, there were also "back door" ways to leave it later than 90 days if you had the listing number, but the implementation of the 60-day limit also closed the back doors.
It has certainly never been just 30 days -- that would have been completely unworkable back in the days of "snail mail" payments.
Here's the Announcement:

Hi bostongrammy
Thank you. I guess I got it confused with how the items used to be removed from My eBay after 30 days - if that was the only way you knew to leave feedback, you wouldn't be able to because the item wouldn't be in My eBay anymore. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Hi jandegraphics
If you're talking to me, I don't sell on eBay - but I don't see what selling of any particular items have anything to do with this 'conversation.' What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

60 Days is not enough. I bought a motorcycle from USA and it arrived after 60 Days. Now I want to leave a positive feedback but the listing is gone. 90 Days is adequate.

I was operating under my former knowledge of feedback and went to leave really glowing positive feedback tonight for a seller who went above and beyond...which is when I discovered the change to 60 days. It STINKS!!!
I bought the high $$ item before Thanksgiving; with the holidays and the incredible odyssey getting it from NY to GA became (to clarify: the seller had listed it as 'local pick-up only', and the odyssey part was after it departed the seller's custody), I was not in an informed position to leave feedback as I hadn't received it yet.
I am really heartsick that I can't leave this seller the great feedback she deserves (her feedback is still under 100, BTW). I wish there was a work-around for this issue, because this seller was truly outstanding and I wanted to applaud that fact.
