You can sell them.List them with a desrciption in the ad as such: Iron set that resembles (insert name brand).Do not put a name brand in the title. Some do but it is not really allowed.Counterfeits are not allowed at all. But,some do get away with it.

Fake/Copied Golf Clubs on eBay?

Jun 22, 2005 5:31 PM
Just got caught paying $1006 for a set of counterfeit Callaway clubs, Unfortunately I paid by direct debit. A lesson to be learned don't buy unless the seller uses paypal. The best I can expect from ebay is $200.The guy wont answer, how do I find his address. I know he lives in Queensland Australia.

So if I say I have for sale "clubs that are nearly identical to Callaway clubs", would this be allowed?

Have not heard of fake clevelands. Its possible but unlikely they normally go for callaways, nike or taylor made. Just show them to a golf pro or check to see if they have a serial no on the hosel of the irons, however not all brands have serial no's so it may not be conclusive if they do not. I think paypal would resolve this matter for you.

Fake/Copied Golf Clubs on eBay?

Jul 28, 2005 8:30 AM
As a clubmaker I want to make sure everyone understands the differences in what constitutes an illegal copy of a golf club.

Many companies make golf clubs that are "knockoffs" of popular well known companies such as Callaway. They look like the same product but have a different but sometimes similiar looking name. They are sold everywhere and are not illegal. They are cheaper but usually of low quality and not the same materials are used as the product they are "copying"

Other companies produce and market quality components based upon their own designs. Golfsmith and Golfworks are fine examples of these kinds of component distributors.

Then there may be a few illegal organizations who sell complete frauds using the same name as the original. These organizations are acting illegally.

To check out your clubs look on the hosel. All the well known companies have serial numbers on many (but not all) of their products. I doubt that the illegal products take the time to imprint a serial number.

Hope this helps.

Fake/Copied Golf Clubs on eBay?

Anyone thinking about buying golf clubs on e-bay should rethink it and go to a pro shop. I just bought a Taylormade r7 that is a fake worthless piece of junk. ccwu01 from N.H. is the maggott that sold it. Sure wish I had his address.

As far as Callaway clubs are concerned, serial numbers are usually on the 8 irons, drivers, and 3 woods. Callaway customer service confirms that 7woods, 3-7 irons, and other clubs do not have serial numbers. Also, no one counterfeits the older Callaway clubs. The counterfeits are usually sold NEW and are usually complete sets with bag, umbrella, shoe bag etc... A few ways to identify the fakes include: if the seller has very little feedback, private feedback, doesn't show close up pictures of the back of the clubs, refuses to answer questions regarding serial numbers, and is selling them at a very low price. Even people who have "won these clubs" know what they're worth. Also, look for the fake Callaway headcovers. The black furry headcovers with the green V are fakes, and are extremely cheap. Callaway's newer black headcovers are not FURRY.

Simply do not buy NEW Callaway clubs on ebay. Authorized Callaway dealers are not permitted to sell on ebay. You can sometimes find newer, used clubs at good prices, but they're still high enough to justify the cost of going to a more reputable seller. I deal in USED callaway clubs, and register them with callawaygolf.com to ensure authenticity. I encourage my buyers to register the clubs in their names when they receive them, so that they know for sure that they've purchased a real Callaway product. Ask me for a serial number before you bid if you have any doubt. The lesson here is, if you've found a deal that's too good to be true, it probably is.

I would suggest you contact Callaway golf and give them jimmy-roy ebay address and a copy of the aucton in queston as well as lodging a claim with ebay or paypal, if he doesn't reply or come up with a reasonable answer, he may have problems as did the guy who sold me the fake Callaway clubs.
I found Callaway very helpful.
