Pay with money order

i have a buyer wanting to bid on one of my items using a money order. he says he buys and sells accepting them all the time. the money order is not the issue. the issue is i looked him up and he has left 4 negs with 1 removed by ebay. 1 was for paying then not getting the item. the other was he didnt respond to a UPI and left a neg. anyway i looked to see what he sells and its the same stuff i do just different models of the item. kinda leery of this one!

I would just tell him that you only accept Paypal, then put him on your Blocked Bidders List.

thanks! i was leaning toward doing that. in his listings he accepts paypal also. i really dont want to deal with anybody that throws out negs like that.

Exactly - run, run, run far away! :-p

Definately block him - I have accepted Money Orders in the past without any issue, I even had a lady send me $30 cash (though I told her several times to send a MO) I received it sent her item and she left a positive.

I say trust your gut - it is rarely wrong!!

thanks! i just blocked him but have not replied to his message yet. the auction ends in a few hours. i to have accepted M.O's before with no problem. ever since honda put that link up to check people out i have been using it! if ebay will not help us weed out the wacko's we have to do it ourselves!

As sellers exposed to eBay & PayPal policies that favor the buyer (No matter what!) we have to use everything available to prevent unscrupulous buyers from taking advantage of us. I am glad you found 1 of my links helpful in preventing a problem buyer from potentially causing your reputation harm!

ATTA BOY HONDA! hahahaha one potential PITA buyer thwarted! with more to come i'm sure.... i have over 1200 transactions and have been very lucky with my buyers. most are really super people that are return buyers. only a tiny few have been flaky.

Thanks for the info, and of course the first item I'm ready to sell I get a Money order guestion. I had already stated in my listing that paypal was the only form of transaction I would accept.
The gentlemen that sent the message wants to use a post office money order. Is this still just as bad?

postal money orders are fine. i take them but use your gut feeling about the buyer. check his feedback and make a decision. if you do not feel comfortable taking money orders then don't. i found that the few instances when i was asked and accepted the buyers appreciated it and became repeat customers. the time i did not accept was when i checked the buyers feedback and he was NEG happy.

Postal MO are the best. You can go to the PO & if they have enough money in their draw, they will cash it.

I am fairly new here. I had an auction recently where a guy requested to pay with M.O. Told him i would have to wait on it to clear. He replied he had 100 percent positive as a buyer, which is irrelevant since you cant neg buyers. Told him Postal or Cashiers check and i would ship upon receipt. Never heard from him again

My PO is out in the middle of nowhere. But I think the best system is the paypal. I did however let the Q&A be seen on the item for all to see. Not a Neg, but maybe to set an example for paypal.
