TOP SELLER STATUS

Nov 7, 2009 5:53 AM
It kinda bites that most of the part-time sellers aren't included in the Top Seller icons even with a long history and great record because of sales volume limits. From the way it looks if you go further, this might change in April 2010. However, the description to buyers doesn't let them know now that we are omitted because the sales currently aren't enough to get Power Seller Status first, so it looks like we don't qualify because of our products and service. I'm afraid that the search available to include only Top Sellers, will cost me sales. I suppose we have to wait until April to see if it changes and bite the bullet until then..... btw - I emailed Ebay to ask about status since it wasn't clear until I started digging,,, and he didn't even mention the proposed change and pretty rudely expressed repeatedly about my NOT qualifying in the reply. Not a warm fuzzy customer service experience.

Hi randimc & welcome to The Part Timers Forum!

My understanding is $3K sales & 100 items for the last 12 months average??? The way I accomplished this was to find a few items being sold in bulk & then sell individually....

Come join us Part Timers that worked within this system to achieve PS & TRS status!

i used to wonder about top rated seller but don't anymore. the goals that they set are unattainable and the DSR thing stinks. why would ebay want to give you a discount for being a top rated seller? they don't! hence the DSR system that is unfair to sellers and impossible to obtain. just continue to sell, when i buy i don't even look at top rated anything! if the price is right and the seller has decent feedback i go for it. if you look there are many top rated sellers that don't even have 100% feedback. and some of the problems i have had buying have all come from them. i sell also so i know what you are concerned about. i don't worry about top rated seller anymore because of those reasons.

If you click on your seller dashboard, under Seller Performance, you'll see links See your performance and PowerSeller status. If you click see your performance, on the right hand side of the page, you'll see a yellow box with Top-rated standards at the bottom. That's where you'll see the requirements for being a TRS and how close (or not) you are.

Re: TOP SELLER STATUS

Nov 7, 2009 7:25 AM
now I'm really confused that you were able to get the icon, and this is the answer I got. I do have what you mention and I agree it looks like that's the qualification - this is my email from yesterday..:

Randi, I reviewed your account and found that you are not a PowerSeller
as you do not meet the Sales Volume requirement for the last 3 months to
be a PowerSeller. You also do not meet the requirements for becoming a
Top-Rated Seller. To qualify for Top-Rated Seller, you need to be a
PowerSeller first. As you are not a PoweSeller, you do not qualify for
Top-rated Seller Program.

You have not sold 300 items in the last 3 months / not sold items worth
$3000.00 in the last 3 months and therefore you have been disqualified
and not eligible to become a PowerSeller.

On your last evaluation on Oct-18-2009, you were not eligible to be a
PowerSeller. Your next performance evaluation date is : Nov-18-2009. If
you are eligible eBay will automatically send you an invitation to
become a PowerSeller.

Sales volume requirements for being a PowerSeller :
=========================================
Minimum sales volumes based on three months or twelve months of activity
as follows:
Three months requirement: $1,000 in sales and 2 items sold per month, or
100 items sold per month
Twelve month requirement: $12,000 in sales and 24 items sold, or 1,200
items sold

To view the complete criteria list, go to: Link

Randi, you also do not meet the requirements for becoming a Top-Rated
Seller. To qualify for Top-Rated Seller, you need to be a PowerSeller
first. When you become a PowerSeller and to qualify as a Top-rated
Seller, you need to :

Meet all the quality requirements for and accept the invitation to the
PowerSeller program (you need to be a PowerSeller)
Meet the sales volume requirements for Top-rated seller status: 100
transactions and $3,000 in GMV over the past 12 months
Have no more than the maximum allowed instances of 1s or 2s on all DSRs
from U.S. buyers:

Top-rated Seller Requirements :
=========================

1) Sellers with 400 or more transactions over the previous 3 calendar
months:
No more than 0.50% of transactions with 1s or 2s on each one of the four
DSRs over the past 3 months.
2) Sellers with 400 or more annual transactions, but less than 400 over
the most recent 3 completed calendar months:
No more than 0.50% of transactions with 1s or 2s on each one of the four
DSRs over the past 12 months.
3) Sellers with less than 400 annual transactions:
No more than two instances of 1s or 2s on each one of the four DSRs over
the past 12 most recent completed calendar months. This will ensure that
lower volume sellers are not disqualified based on a single transaction.

They sure do make confusing, don't they!

Do you have the green checks for a power seller or trs?

If you meet the power seller requirements now, then maybe ebay is looking at your stats from the LAST review period? The next review is coming up.

I'm not neither a power seller nor trs, maybe if I'd sold year round, but I didn't.

Keldasales: I have the Top Seller icon showing... and by this email he sent he even seems to contradict himself in the requirements. "sales volume requirements for Top-rated seller status: 100 transactions and $3,000 in GMV over the past 12 months" But then he says you have to be a Power Seller first which has MUCH higher requirements that I don't meet. Yes you are exactly right... they make this really confusing. Or ridiculas....

Re: TOP SELLER STATUS

Nov 7, 2009 11:51 AM

As usual among ebay associate's the right hand hasen't a clue what thye left hand is doing. I lifted the below from this link: Link

New PowerSeller standards and rewards

See also the at-a-glance chart for a quick reference of the changes and timing.

What's changing in the PowerSeller program in October 2009?
Promotion of listings in search based on performance will be an exclusive benefit for eBay Top-rated sellers.
The PowerSeller logo will no longer be displayed on buyer-facing pages like the item page and other member profile pages. The icon will still be displayed in My eBay, Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro.
Featured First will be available to eBay Top-rated sellers only.
For sellers who meet all the requirements of the new Top-rated seller status (including 100 annual transactions), the sales requirement for the PowerSeller program will be lowered to $3,000 annually. This change will also be applied to the entire PowerSeller program in April 2010.
PowerSellers who qualify as eBay Top-rated sellers when this new status goes into effect in October will get 20% Final Value Fee discounts even if their current discount level is lower today.
For PowerSellers who do not qualify as eBay Top-rated sellers in October, the current discount structure will continue until April 2010 to give sellers eight months to adjust business practices as needed.

New eBay Top-rated seller status

What is the new eBay Top-rated seller status and what is its purpose?
The new eBay Top-rated seller status recognizes PowerSellers who consistently provide the best experiences to their customers. The program differentiates sellers by their relative performance and offers incentives and rewards for providing great buyer experiences.

When does the new eBay Top-rated seller status go into effect?
All sellers who qualify as eBay Top-rated sellers will be invited into the PowerSeller program to begin receiving the benefits starting in October 2009. Note the current PowerSeller program discount structure will also remain in effect until April 2010: 20% for 4.9; 15% for 4.8; and 5% for 4.6. This will give PowerSellers who continue to meet the 30-day DSR requirements plenty of time—8 full months—to keep those discounts while they evaluate and adjust their business practices to meet the new low DSR requirements.

What are the benefits of the eBay Top-rated seller status?
Exclusive benefits for eBay Top-rated sellers include:
Highest fee discounts: All eBay Top-rated sellers will receive the maximum 20% discount on Final Value Fees. Note that for other PowerSellers, the current discount schedule will remain in effect until April 2010.
Increased search visibility: Top-rated sellers will get increased search exposure on their Fixed Price listings in Best Match search results.
Featured First: Only eBay Top-rated sellers will be able to purchase Featured First.
Prominent badge on their item pages: The new eBay Top-rated seller badge will be displayed on sellers' item pages, other member profile pages, and search results pages. The current PowerSeller icon will no longer be displayed on buyer-facing pages like the item page and other member profile pages. The icon will still be displayed in My eBay, Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro.

How do I qualify to be an eBay Top-rated seller?
To qualify as an eBay Top-rated seller, you need to:
Meet all the quality requirements for and accept the invitation to the PowerSeller program
Meet the sales volume requirements for Top-rated seller status: 100 transactions and $3,000 in GMV over the past 12 months
Have no more than the maximum allowed instances of 1s or 2s on all DSRs from U.S. buyers:
Sellers with 400 or more transactions over the previous 3 calendar months: No more than 0.50% of transactions with 1s or 2s on each one of the four DSRs over the past 3 months.
Sellers with 400 or more annual transactions, but less than 400 over the most recent 3 completed calendar months: No more than 0.50% of transactions with 1s or 2s on each one of the four DSRs over the past 12 months.
Sellers with less than 400 annual transactions: No more than two instances of 1s or 2s on each one of the four DSRs over the past 12 most recent completed calendar months. This will ensure that lower volume sellers are not disqualified based on a single transaction.
Minimum average across all four DSRs (based on PowerSeller requirement):
- Current: 4.5 on global transactions
- Starting April 2010: 4.60 on transactions with U.S. buyers.
Compliance with new Selling Practices policy requirements.

I feel better that I am not alone with the seller dashboard. I have sold over $20,000 in the past twelve months but not enough items to meet the power seller. At one point I did meet the requirement and when I asked why I didn't have the logo they gave me the big lecture in very poor english. When I looked at my DSR's again they had changed. I'm with the person who said ignore that status keep on selling!

I couldn't help myself, and did the "contact us" email again to point out the contradiction. But it will just go to another employee that hasn't a clue what EBay is doing either. We'll see... but hey HONDAMEDIC!! I didn't say thanks for the big welcome. That was special, and I appreciate it.

In fact, I appreciate all of you who are posting replies. Very nice people on this board.. :)

Top Rated Seller is Just Another Way to Weed-Out all the Mom & Pop Sellers!
It is not Designed to help out small sellers, it is designed to Weed-Out the small sellers.

These programs are trying to tell customers that someone with a 99.4% rating, who will ship in ten days, is a better seller that someone with 100% who will ship tomorrow.
[Anybody who uses the word "WE" in their listing should be avoided... You don't know who is really packing your stuff!]

I have no intention of trying to play their game.
Those of us who sell things like Musical Instruments and Antiques and Memorabilia do not need a Best Match Search.
The people who come to evilBay looking for these items know how to tailor their searches.

I am sorry for those sellers who are trying to make a living through Drop-Shipping and similar businesses.
Hate to be the one to break it to ya'... But Those Days Are Over.

But my advice to all of you is to just keep on doing what has been working for you.
Do not be influenced by every stupid idea that those marketing geeks think up.
It is not designed to make YOU money... It is designed to make eBay money!
