Re: Paypal will help you steal from any seller!!

Dec 1, 2009 3:30 PM
It is apparently quite easy to receive anything for free, from a seller, and paypal will help you do it. All you have to do is buy anything on ebay and after receiving the item, file a not as described complaint. After paypal does there make believe investigation, they will determine that you must send the item back. Then send the seller an empty box back. The seller can complain to Paypal, but Paypal is more worried about there own funds and will not look at any further evidence.

OR, they can just state they did not authorize the transaction, and file a charge back through their credit card company and not even bother sending the empty box back. I was just hit with one today for an unauthorized credit card paypal chargeback. Buyer receives, leaves feedback, a month later they state to their credit card company they never made the purchase. Its so freaking fun to shop for free on ebay, isn’t it!!!!

I too am sick of all this freaking BS we are forced to tolerate as sellers when using this glorified crap of a payment system called paypal! Sellers need to expect many of these paypal chargebacks around the holidays. This way the customer shops for free!!!

Mine don’t even have to bother sending me an empty box back. How nice is that!!

Nah, I’m not bitter……..

If you have proof of shipment you have Seller Protection for unauthorized use claims.

Then send the seller an empty box back.

That's mail fraud... the seller should file internet and mail fraud complaints against the buyer with the USPS, the Internet Crime Complaint Center, seller's local police department and the buyer's police department...

thats what i hear, but i also hear that if the credit card company takes it from paypal, then paypal will take it from me, since buyer states un auth cc transaction.

they usually dont end well for the seller in this case. i shipped to a confirmed address. i doubt paypal will take the loss, they will shaft me instead. we shall see!

Purchases via electronic payments using credit cards over the internet will never work.

Correct.

not even bother sending the empty box back. I was just hit with one today for an unauthorized credit card paypal chargeback.

That leaves a rather nasty paper trail with banks (federal law) involved.

the seller should file internet and mail fraud complaints against the buyer with the USPS, the Internet Crime Complaint Center, seller's local police

Like, those agencies don't have enough to do without worrying about your widget you sold on EBay for $20.

The rule is, do sell anything on EBay you can't afford to lose (and pay shipping for, and in some cases pay $10 to PayPal for selling it )

Contact the buyer... maybe the buyer didn't recognize the payment on their credit card statement.

I was being sarcastic earlier. In theory buyers could return empty boxes for refunds but internet shopping isn't a theory, it really does work.

That's the purpose of the IC3 and mail fraud. Many small claims against a person do get action. It's always good to report it, you might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Yeah, if someone is going to lie to PayPal and rip you off they are going to do it. That's the risk of selling online. Brick and mortor stores get this with shoplifting. Criminals are everywhere.

That's a decision the defrauded seller will need to make. It's quite obvious that nothing will be done if the seller doesn't file any complaints.

How much money needs to be at stake before "some" think it's worthwhile filing complaints?

Contact the buyer... maybe the buyer didn't recognize the payment on their credit card statement.

Well Sandy, i did contact the buyer through the ebay transaction earlier today and also contacted her from my hotmail, to her email address listed on paypal. I was very polite and suggested maybe she forgot she had made the purchase. She responded to my email. I found it odd she answered me at all if it were a scam. She stated that she was confused, but totally remembered buying the item. She acted clueless about the chargeback, and asked me "oh, so i still owe you money?" I found that odd. I explained to her NO, your credit card company is trying to take the money back from me. She states, oh, that’s odd my credit company would do something like that, again acting clueless. She said she would clear it up and close the claim, but she still has not. I have to wonder if perhaps it was a younger person, maybe using their parent’s paypal account or something like that. I don’t know, but she has yet to close the claim, and totally remembers making the purchase. Isn’t that odd? I did provide tracking to paypal, but I also know if paypal gets hit by the credit company, they will not take the fall, I will.

Here's a new one... You post an item... it sells! The buyer pays you via Paypal... But Paypal tells you that before you may have access to YOUR MONEY that the buyer has sent you, you must first ship the item AND receive positive feed back from the trans action which they say may take up to 21days... BECAUSE... you don't have any detailed seller reports.

This happened to a good friend of mine today who has a 100% positive rating with a feedback score of 158 and has been a registerd user since 2000. She simply hasn't sold anything on eBay in about a year. What a nice way to welcome her back!

She pulled down her other auctions (and so did I) and sent the buyer his money back Now shes stuck for the listing and final value fees.. Watch out guys, there all out to get us. Craigslist here I come!
