No Pics from RoadRunner HighSpeed Migration Robbed me

Dec 12, 2008 12:40 PM
My Pictures disappeared from my auctions. The jerks at Time Warner Road Runner decided to drop "WITHOUT any warning" everybody's pictures in a so called migration and it changed there url's and it deleted all the pics from my ftp site for my tags. And the image sources in my description were not valid anymore. Unbelievable. I'm in shock at how they ruined all that hard work for me, and crushed my hopes for a great sell this week. And I've been working for 10 hours to get them back up . After finally getting my pics back up with the ones with no bids(gee, hard to bid on something if you can't see it.)But I had a dozen of them were the pics are at the bottom becuase people bid already. I made a mistake of not checking my auctions for a couple days and finally checked my mail to see 10 potential customers email me to tell me no pics show up. So if anyone has roadrunner , uses a ftp site, and there are no pics showing up. Well , you know who to blame.

No Pics from RoadRunner HighSpeed Migration Robbed me

rickztoyz,

This is a similar problem to what AOL members went through a short time back. I created a script that will replace URLs dynamically in an eBay listing. The script can be appended to a listing to effect the change even though the listing has bids.

Provided you use the same exact file names for the photos as you did in your listing 190272376713 --

Link

Link

Then the script is set up for you to see and use if you like here:

Link

There is a 5 second delay before the image URLs are replaced which is a safety measure to help assure the page has loaded sufficiently to make the changes.

You'd use everything except the image tag I put in for testing purposes.

Hope this helps,

Rob

Hi,

Same problem here with RoadRunner. Not sure how you solved your problem - could you elaborate? I'm going crazy trying to figure it out. Thanks.

No clue to how that script can be added to my page. Do I go into this tag and replace each jpg number?. Kinda late now my auctions close in a couple hours. Rick

Hi Rick,

Yeah, it is a little late in the game so you shouldn't bother. When I posted there were a few days left on most that had bids so might have been helpful. You wouldn't have needed to change anything in the script, just revise your item and paste it in.

Rick, I'll be adding a some notes below for other roadrunner members. If you would please read and comment. Thanks,

Rob

No Pics from RoadRunner HighSpeed Migration Robbed me

Hello,

rickztoyz may answer with more specific details but if your problem is exactly the same what will be required is to:

1. Get yourself set up to transfer your photo files to a new FTP location. I found roadrunner help pages here:

Link

2. Upload all of the photos you are using on eBay to your new FTP location.

3. Revise your item listings on eBay to use the new URLs

If they are exactly like rickztoyz then the part that used to be:

home.twcny.rr.com/username

needs to be changed to:

home.roadrunner.com/~username

I hope this helps,

Rob

No Pics from RoadRunner HighSpeed Migration Robbed me

I too have Roadrunner and I like to do my own photo hosting on ebay. I have an iMac and store photos in Fetch. My Fetch folder went down last Thursday and I had 9 auctions ending Sunday. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Roadrunner tech support Saturday afternoon. I was finally able to figure out the correct address for photo transfer to ebay Saturday night and was able to get some photos back into my auctions before they ended Sunday. But come Sunday night, I could not transfer one photo to ebay from Fetch, all came up a broken image. And now it's Monday night, still not working.

No Pics from RoadRunner HighSpeed Migration Robbed me

Hello Rick: I am down here south of Auburn, NY and Time Warner RR did the same to me and here's where I am at, I have made my home page and I have figured out how to put images on the home page but I cannot figure out how to add an image to my item, it's all in the "path" and I just cannot figure out how to add the path when you click on add an image when putting an item on to sell. I spent 4 hours on the phone talking to someone in asia who didn't have a clue what Time Warner was doing when they deleted all of my images, I had 155 images up and cannot sell anything now. If you think you can help me out, please do, either email me @ rpierc1@rochester.rr.com Thanks, Bob Pierce

I did more searching through Google and believe this page:

Link

is the place to start to learn how to adapt to the changes being made by roadrunner.

Bob - if you post the address of your home page that has images showing in it someone here may know how to figure out what address the individual images are stored at. In general, however, what you would do is right click on one and choose properties to see its URL.

vg7 - I am not familiar with fetch so I'm not sure if this will help, but I believe the new path to photos you upload to roadrunner is:

Link

Hello Rob: When I right click on an item (image on my web page) I get a message that the "Adobe flash player settings are set to "DENY"
Home.RR.COM to access my camera/microphone, could this be problematic?

Bob,

What you are using and the address you posted is an editing interface. We need the address that visitors to the page would use.

It might start something like:

Link

Hello again Rob: Here is the address to get to my home page: Link right now I have 2 images listed and trying to add the "sep2w001.jpg" image to the "add image" when editing the item for ebay.

This is where the item will not show when adding it to the listing.

Hello Rob: Here is the "PATH" that I just tried and no luck:
Link

If the images are stored at bobs09photos and the image is SEP2W001.jpg, this should be the direct path?

Bob,

I can't get any of the photos you have uploaded to appear when visiting your page:

Link

and I'm not sure it would help if I could as it appears the publishing tool provided to you only creates flash content which would not reveal the locations (URLs) of any photos used in the pages. There's even a possibility that they couldn't be accessed directly. In any case we have no idea where they are stored.

I suggest you cut and run. Go to:

Link

and sign up for a free account there. That service is tremendously popular with eBay sellers.

To everyone else reading this. As best I can figure, Time Warner Roadrunner offers two options to members for migrating their hosted files when service using existing hosting was canceled. roadrunner.com or home.rr.com

Rick chose the roadrunner.com service which is more traditional hosting supporting FTP uploads and direct access to files and photos. Bob chose home.rr.com which as you've read here seems to use a flash interface and produce web pages entirely consisting of flash content.
