We had so much fun hi-jacking someone elses thread the other day and encouraging each other to keep on listing that I thought we might try a thread just for that.
So come one, come all, pop in when you've lost that listing feeling and you need a bit of a boost or hang out while you work and we'll keep you company
Just remember... if you don't list it... you can't sell it!

I just found this thread. I am so sorry for the loss of your friend and sad I didn't get a chance to "meet" her. I think this is a fantastic idea because I need motivation to keep listing.
I have a cargo container filled with things and when I start taking pics I get discouraged thinking I will never get to the end wondering if it is even worth it to try to list all of the hundreds of dishes and knick knacks.
I am lucky to get ten things a day listed lately. I look forward to going thru and reading all 48 pages to gather motivational ideas.

Here is the last email received from Elaine on June 11. I posted it on the RIP thread, too.
Hi Pat! Dental work is still not done! It's really being dragged out! I still don't have the front tooth, so needless to say, I am not socializing, I go to the thrift store occasionally, and just keep my mouth shut! lol! I haven't been to an estate sale in 6 mos.! I know, I keep listing, that's all I know what to do with my time! The sales are just trickling in.....I love the summer weather, (if I could go out and enjoy it) but I hate the slowness of Ebay sales! Pneumonia is really gone, knock on wood! Physically I am ok, still don't seem to have my full energy back, still taking naps...not sure if that's physical, or depression in regards to the tooth situation! Thanks for thinking of me! Elaine

Hi guys
OMG, I am in total shock. As pat says still trying to take it in.
Thank you cx for letting me know.
I've been a bit out of the loop lately. This was the last thing I was expecting to hear. "If a product doesn't sell, raise the price" - Reese Palley

Welcome to the thread, dreams.
I'm sorry, it's a sad time for us right now, but please feel free to join in any time. Our friend never let anything stand in the way of her listing, so we owe it to her memory to continue the tradition. "If a product doesn't sell, raise the price" - Reese Palley

Still listing, but slowly.
Sales are really slow for me at the moment. I brat came and got stuff Monday, efectively moving out, so I have been taking over her room. Yay. I may get to see my loveseat now. I still have fabric here to iron. I wash stuff as soon as it comes in. but I have been slacking on the ironing and putting away for the quilting fabric. Mainly cuz I have glass stacked on the ironing board. I made some progress yesterday. It's over 90 deg, so I stayed in and cleared off the ironing board, and today I hope to actually use it! I'm getting back into the swing of things finaly. I got my new bookshelves from the auction house a couple of day ago, which gives me some room to work in the office now. My parentals came to visit and bought me a Wireless modem AND an office chair as a house warming gift... and some Dahlias too :D It's funny isn't it, that the best gift I could give dad on Fathers day was to let him come and "help" me *giggles*
I got bored of listing thrift store finds yesterday so I ran out to a local antique mall. Spent $170 but got 16 items so that's pretty darn good. Lots of paperweight, can't wait to finish taking the last couple of photographs today and get on with listing it all.
I think I need to fine tune my buying again, it's been all thrift stores lately which rarely yeilds as much exciting and colorful stuff as variety malls or flea markets etc. I started the hunt for flea markets I can get to and hopefully eventually sell at. The move and the summer slow down is seriously dinging my wallet all at the same time.... need to make some $$$ Contemplating running some old stock to the auction house.

Yep, a little warm here today, too. But what do you expect? We're in Georgia.
You know Cat, as a parent, one of my greatest pleasures (aside from big hugs) is helping our adult children and they seem more cognitive of the help, too. They even put together a really nice 'splash' last week for our 50th. So let your Dad help. He loves it!
It has been a wee bit slow so I put a number of store items on sale with markdown manager. It has certainly brought more lookers and some folks buying things that they were on the fence about. FedEx'd several heavy boxes today.
I'm one of those who glut up the marketplace when the free listings come along. Pulled out that old free listings file and went to town. Some even have lookers!
Stay cool, everyone. Pat

Resurecting this from page 682 . . .
Since my brat graduated and removed her hiney to share an apt [cantcha just see the judge judy show that's gonna happen?] with her friend, I tought I'd move a few things into her room. Turns out her room needed cleaning/clearing out. I did half of it, and was gonna reserve half for her, but when she came and got more stuff and her matress, all bets are off. So I cleaned the carpet and finished digging cwap outa corners.
I swear, I have ran into my office several times to look up stuff on ebay, and once on google just to see what it was!!!
so far we have 4 bags or garbage, 4 bags and one box went to the thrift, and one bag went to hubby's son, for his kid.
Needless to say I haven't listed a whole lot. I hope to be done tomorrow when I am expecting a lamp to arrive so I can change out the switch. They're a bit tricky, and I do it on the floor with the lamp between my legs. I've done several dozen by now, and this seems to be the safest for old lamps.
Oh, and I applied for another job. The odd thing is he wouldn't hire me unless I give my boss 2 weeks notice, and wanted me to give him an availability date. I told him if I couldn't give him a date unless I knew he was going to hire me, and that I could work afternoons for 2 weeks, and then do the mornings he wants. He said he needed 2 people, and would give me 40 hours [which I need] but would prefer me mornings. That was Fri. On Sat I gave my boss 2 weeks notice, and went back to the place and told them July 9th I'd be available all day long. He said someone was starting this mornday, but he needed 2, and I was on top. He said if I don't hear from him in July, to call him. God, I hope he hires me!
After last July when my boss promised me 1 weeks vacation every 6 months, take off, or work and get paid based on how much we'd worked the previous 6 months if we'd at least work the weekends, and then this past Dec, I got nothing. I changed my schedual, and worked every freakin weekend for nothin! Plus worked Christmas day without on extra penny! My mind was made up that would never happen again. I am sure if I asked for my old days back, he wouldn't be happy. but seriously who wants Wed and Thurs off? My hubby works those days, and the days he gets off, I am working. That's a lot to ask, and then renig on [whopping $137] payment. Plus now that brat has graduated, I get no child support, so I need more hours/money. So time to move on. I don't feel like honoring 2 weeks notice for a guy to didn't honor his promise, but I will do it anyway. With a smile. It will be over soon.
I hope everyone is doing well. eBay musta smudged up the search. Sales were slow last week, and on free list day, I couldn't barely even load a listings page! It's picking up a bit now. So hopefully everyone will be selling more! My Blog , My Packing Tips

Here's wishing you the best with the potential job Andi. Kind of lame for him to tell you to put notice in on your job and then tell you you were "top of the list" and to wait to hear from him!
The candy shop didn't work out for me, was too boring and I think business was slower than he expected so he hired way too many people. I'm ok with that though, as long as I can work hard enough to make enough to cover the extra few hundred bucks a month I was hoping for from the job.
I was really worried when sales tanked last week and my bank accounts started hitting rock bottom from the move and not having got much work done and therefore sales out the door while I was packing and moving. Things seem to have picked up some this weekend though and I have got my work space all squared away and I'm getting into a nice routine now.

I didn't get that one, but applied at 2 more, doing what I used to do - electronics. I'll be at a station for 8-10 hours a day, but will be able to sock money away for later. Hopefully, same shift as hubby.
I feel like I'm starting over, and in a way, I am, but with a different future in mind. Last time I was in electronics, I was looking forward to marriage and kids, now I am looking forward to where ever God leads the two of us.
I am keeping to my notice of July 9th, but if I get offered a job sooner, I will go sooner. Boss will be mad either way [I know, I have heard him enough times when others have left], and like I said I kept my promise, and he didn't. He didn't even ask why, but experiance tells me, he will ask the other people why I left after I'm gone.
Lamp came, off to rewire it, and send it back . .
Good luck everyone! My Blog , My Packing Tips

Evening all, how's everyone doing? The sun finally decided to show it's head here in WA. I've been trying to take advantage and sit out on the porch to work whenever possible. SO glad I sorted out my wireless interwebz.
I can't seem to stop shopping though! When I first moved and I tried to schedule a pick up the website wouldn't let me. So now I have to drive to the PO just about every day. It's not a big ordeal there's one less than 5 minutes round the corner from me... however there are two thrift stores in between me and it lol!! Plus, now I'm on this side of the water, I can drive to meet my friends which means more stores to hit. Not to mention there's just generally a LOT more shops I can get to if I just want to get out of the house or I'm on my way somewhere (and it's all NEW terriroty *grins).
Anyway my point in telling you all this is that it means I can't stop listing! Sales are dribbling in but barely enough to pay for my shopping habits let alone pay me lol. I just keep convincing myself that come Xmas season I'll have so much in my shop that I'll double my sales from last year lol.
I'm just about up to 450 so I've gaines 50, I was hovering around 400 when I moved.

I got one job if I want it. Lotta standing. Hope my back holds out.
I have been shopping less, cuz I bought too much stuff last summer, thinking I'd list it all by Christmas. Didn't. Still goin through it now.
Tomorrow I start my motocycle class to get my license. Hubby's gone to a family wedding out of state - too expensive for me to go. So I'm staying home, and playing with motorcycles!
Oh and listing stuff.

Hi All,
Sounds like everyone is busy with listings and life
Good luck on your motorcycle course Andi and congrats on your job! Sunny days are great for riding.
Hey Cat, sounds like you are having fun in your new place. How is your mall space working out. I'm going to try and get in a road trip down south sometime this summer, so if I do we will have to meet up for a drink.
Pat it sounds like you are having some heat, hope you are able to stay cool.
Me, I've got a fire going tonight, rain, wind and low temps - stange weather we are having. I haven't brought my MGB out yet, no sense unless the sun is shining.
On the plus side I've been listing and actually selling a few things. RL has been slow for sales the last couple of weeks, guess people are busy. My store is busy though , tourists are here and kids are out of school.
Hope everyone has a great weekend

Hi CX, i'd love to see you if you come down this way, or even if you don't come this far I can go up too.
Haven't checked on the mall this month, hoping things have picked up cause the summer started. I did get one call asking if I'd discount a $70 item so here's hoping it sold.

Well, I lived through 3 whole days of sweltering heat in full motorcycle gear ande got my certificate! Yay!
Today, I walked my dog for 4 miles @7am while it was cool out, then went to work, where the boss is till upset that I had to take a 3 day class to get a license. Never mind that I worked 2 weeks without a day off before I took these 3 days. Dude is 70 years old, and still insists you only have to ride your bike to the Sec of state, take a test, and be done.
After work, I packed 3 items, went to PO, then to the temp place where I had to apply for the job I am staring on the 9th, then to the sec of state and picked up my license.
I am now offically a biker chick! Too hot to get on my bike. I was going to stop at a thrift on the way home, but it's still 95, my car was an oven [no air - and was sitting in the SOS parking lot for an hour], and my skin was dry, so I took that as sign to get home.
I will take my bike out to play soon, but I think I need to recover a bit first.
I haven't listed much, but I did clean the bathroom over the weekend.
I hope ya'll are doing great! My Blog , My Packing Tips

Wow you've been busy Andi!! Congrats on getting your licence! I bet that's so exciting. What's your bike like? I might need to see photos *grin*
I've been busy too. Listing mainly. 5 items a day, every day, plus an extra 5 jewelry items onto RL every now and then. It's certainly paying off in that I'm still getting just enough sales to scrape by.... I think :P
Roll on Christmas Season!!

Here's My Bike - Yamaha 400 Maxum we got 2 summers ago. I wanted one for me, big enough for 2 people [back when we only had one vehical - a big ol van], yet small enough for me to ride knowing I had never riden one before. Hubby rode it to work on good days, so I could have the van all to myself. I worked mornings and he worked afternoons, so we mostly shared the van. Blame obama for folks trashing their good cars to get a discount on new ones, making a huge used car shortage. We had scraped/saved up about 2k and couldn't find a good used car. So I got mad and bought this for $375. We've had quite a few people offer us more than double for it.

Then we got this Gold Wing for Hubby [and me to ride on the back] this past Feb

I think it took us 4 years total to get a car, a truck, and these 2 bikes - all paid for with cash. Might not be as pretty as some, but by golly we own em!

That's lovely!
I hear you about paying cash. I much prefer to save for something and pay for it outright than owe the bank. All that interest... you can buy two cars by the end of it with what you spent on one!
Happy 4th of July. I'm sort of taking the day off (though I did get listings up from Auctiva this morning).
Going to go hiking if my friends ever get here, then a great view of the fireworks from my friends condo tonight. Parking will be a bitch though.

Hey All and a Happy 4th. Sounds like everyone has been busy.
Congrats Cat on pushing up those numbers. Just plugging along can become a bore. Sounds like you have found a lot more places to 'hunt' and you do find nice treasures. That plique a jour piece is to die for. Hope you do well with it.
WOW on your bikes, Andi. You and DH can go on a biking vacation! From the ads on TV, here, it looks like Michigan has some nice vacation areas. (Like the Seattle and Victoria area near Cat.)
Elaine's son or niece must be keeping things going. I think they started relisting a few of her items in the last week under her seller name, and have had a few sales. I would be at a loss to know what to do with all of her treasures, must be thousands. Maybe they could have an estate sale! Finding things when they sell could be a challenge althou I think she was well organized. Sure do miss seeing her smiling face.
This has to be THE selling season for CX. Think tourism picks up on the island and she moved closer to town. The Spring, Summer and Fall are beautiful in her area!
Quiet here today getting ready for the cracks and booms. 2 of our adult 'kids' ran in the Peachtree Road Race this a.m. Their 15th year, then they are off to the cool mountains for the rest of the week. How nice.
Am trying to get everything posted and ready for all the auctions this weekend ~ 3 on Saturday, 1 on Sunday. Have been chained to the 'puter and photoshop.

Normally, any weather that keeps folks inside is good for sales, but not during power outages. We lost power for a few hours last Tues. It's been pushing a hundy here, in between storms, and I've been walking the dog 5 miles a day to condition myself for standing up for 8 hours. Ond day we ended up in the rain, and were both muddy when we got back!
Wed, I called hubby to bring us water after about 4 miles. I was ok, but the dog was kinda coughing a bit. She's 12 and I think she'd walk with me forever as long as I kept goin.
Didn't walk today, cuz it's 90% humidity, and gonna be 100 again. I took some pictures of jewelry I got layin around here, and went to work. Was suposed to work Fri, Sat, and Sun, before starting my new job on Mon. Boss handed me a one day check and said "they were all set and that I probably needed the weekend off before starting my new job on Monday" The cheapazz probably thought I wasn't gonna come in the next two days, and wanted to be sure I knew he didn't need me. I keep my promises!
I am sure if you search back in July of last year, you'll find me saying he promised me 1 weeks paid vacation every 6 months, and even specified every Dec and July, if I would change my schedual to work weekends. I did. He didn't. He's still mad I took off last W/E to take the Basic Motorcycle Safety course, so I could get my license. I sign up in March and wrote it on the calender at work, so he had plenty of notice. Plus the 2 weeks before that I work every day cuz a lady's dad passed and I covered her days.
What an azz! No love lost there, and plenty of bogging material about that guy!
Anyway, I am now without income until the 20th when I get my first paycheck, so I better get listing!
Good luck with your sales everyone, and try to stay cool!

Hi All,
Congrats on getting your bike license Andi! Hope you get out riding.
Pat, you are right, the tourists are here and we are busy Had some folks in from Alabama yesterday, enjoyed talking with them. Elaine had some beautiful pieces, I always enjoyed seeing what she found. I think she was organized (from her tips she gave here), but it must be hard for the family if they don't know what things are. I miss seeing her posts too.
Cat if you are ever crossing the border let me know, we can meet up.
The sun and heat have finally arrived, I hope it lasts until Christmas, lol. Not the unbearable heat that has been hitting other parts of the US and Canada, but a nice heat, shorts and t-shirts instead of sweaters and pants. Nice sitting out on the porch in the evening, and I'm actually getting some listings done. A few sales here and on RL - I don't get many lookers on things here, hopefully that will change come the end of summer.
I've got a bunch of Franz porcelain to list, give it a try now and see how it does - if it doesn't sell I'll have listings done for Christmas shoppers.
Hope you are all staying cool and enjoying the summer
Have a great week

Isn't the weather beautiful CX! I spent the whole weekend galivanting around. Thursday evening to Saturday in Port Townsend and then Sunday I went south to a friends garden party.
I took a hike to the beach on saturday and spent some time hunting for beach glass, I should have reapplied my sunscreen. Came home a touch scorched. Oops!!
Back to the grind stone today. I've used up all the listings I wrote to get far enough ahead to let myself take a break. I did find some treasures at the thrifts over the weekend though.
